I couldnt find anything on teg tips or the search function. Could Anyone give me a description on how to lower my car using 4" Adjustable Coilovers? Like what bolts to remove, spring decompressing and all that. Thanks
TEG TIPS Here is whats in there to save you lazy effort:
Spring Decompression.
OK, I’m going to try to explain this as best as possible, but I’m sure you understand how hard it is to put things into words, so please, bear with me. Also if i’m unclear about anything or if you just have a question please give me an email and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
Ok, here is what you will need:
-spring/shock assemblies removed from car
-large towel or blanket you don’t mind cutting up and getting a bit dirty/greasy
-utility knife
-open end wrench (for top of shock)
-Allen wrench (for top of shock)
-and one other person to give you a hand.
Here’s what ya do:

Fold the towel blanket as many times as possible to make it as thick as possible. just make sure that the final dimensions of the towel are approx 2’x4’

Lay the towel down on the ground and grab one of the spring/shock assemblies. Place the assembly long ways on top of the towel. There should be extra material at the bottom and top of the shock. Take this extra material and fold it over the shock. Fold the top down and the bottom up so that they meet in the middle of the shock. Keep the excess material from the sides where they are.

Take the towel/shock combo and flip it over so that the seam you made, where the two folded parts meet, is underneath instead on top.

Take the utility knife and cut a small hole in the top end of the towel. make the whole just big enough for the nut on the top of the shock to be poking out. This will let you have access to use the wrenches.
5)Get your friend (heaviest one there) and have him/her stand on the towel, one foot on each side of the shock assembly. This is why the excess on the sides wasn’t folded-to allow room for someone to stand on it and hold it down.
- Now go to town with the wrenches. Its kind of scary the first time cause you never know when its going to pop. And don’t point the shock at anything like a car, cause the nut will often go flying a few feet. Nothing dangerous, but just in case, you just wouldn’t want to scratch your car. But don’t worry, its not fast enough to injure you.
Then just repeat with the other 4 shocks.
I must also remind you that you should only use this on G2’s. I’m sure it would work on some other cars, probably a civic or other smaller car. But I have never done it on any other cars and I don’t know how much the springs of other cars are compressed, so doing it on anything but a G2 could be dangerous. I know that my moms 91 Maxima had springs that were very compressed and probably would have busted through the towel, so be careful if you are going to use this method on anything but a G2.

also, get yourself a manual. there is no way anyone could explain to you in writing exactly everything you need to take off, and actually have you understand it. The manual will provide much needed pictures.
when you’re doing the job and if you have any specific questions then come back and post. but your manual should be able to cover almost everything.
here is what it won’t cover:
-make sure to cut your bump stops. about in half is good, a little more is needed if you’re going really low
-remove or cut down the dust sheilds. if you don’t they will hit the collars from the coilovers and the car won’t sit as low as its supposed to, plus it will dissable the suspension a little
I think the safest way to go is to rent a spring compressor. You can rent it for like 10 bucks. haha I remember doing that. just waiting for that spring to go POP ! lol
