how to make a shift light

how can i make a shift light?

do a search. awhile back when i inquired about a shift light someone posted a link to instructions on how to make one.

however if you don’t really know much about circuit building, then it’d probably be a good idea to just go out and buy an aftermarket shift light. You can then pull the guts out of it, wire it up to your own light, make yourself a custom rpm pill (i did this, its really cool when its finished!), and custom mount it however you want.

cant find the link plz help

Ooh, yes, where’s the link? I can’t find it either. I have to put one in my Civic DX (for obvious reasons, no tach)…
I’ll build that circuit, no problem…

here you go guys!

Dual Shift Light Instructions

I have this circuit in my car and it works awesome! I mounted 2 high-intensity LEDs in the middle of my dash, one is set at 4K and the other one at 6K.

(I posted this link a while back, guess the tread was too old and got deleted)

wow that does look alittle hard but could somebody build it for me and theni could send them the money for parts and shipping and maybe a little extra, as i would really like the blue leds instead of a yellow

It isn’t really that hard… If your good at soldering, you’ll be ok!

You just have to follow each connections carefully!

alright, i think the other threads were in the discussion forum… which has its topics deleted after a certain time. But this is in integra help, so it won’t get deleted.

we can make this the official custom shift light thread. here is some more info someone might want/need:

just note that if you do it this way you cannot use a 5k ohm variable resistor. It won’t allow you to set the light high enough. When i went to radio shack the next variable resistor up they had was 10k ohm. I bought that and it works perfectly. For pics of what I made: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291945865

oh, and archivethis

you’d probably be better off just buying a shift light. I picked up my autometer one used for $25 shipped. Eventually i plan on pulling the guts out of it and hooking it up to my own light and making it all custom. Once you have the actual circuitry you can hook it up to virtually any light you want, and mount it however you want.
