I removed the master cylinder but having trouble removing the booster. There is not enough room for it to slip out of there. I removed the key that connects to the brake pedal. Also the 4 nuts holding it on. Did I forget to remove something else? Any ideas?
man, removing that thing is such a pain in the ass!!! Ok, so master cylinder is gone, the 4 bolts are off, and you disconnected it from the brake pedal. Let me guess, its loose but just won’t quite come out.
The final straw for me as a brake line. Look right underneath the booster, you’ll see a hard brake line that looks like its sorta in the way, but probably not a problem… well, it is the problem.
Get in the driver side wheel well and disconnect the brake line at the bracket (there are 2 lines… disconnect the one on the left). I believe its a 10mm wrench, possibly 9mm, i forget right now. once that is off there should be enough freeplay in the line for you to be able to yank the booster out.
good luck!
Oh goody…:tsk:
I need to do this soon… I guess it will be another adventure to look forward to :argh: I already changed the master cylinder a few months ago, but now the brake booster has developed a vacuum leak.
Thanks for the tips.
Thanks 91IntegGS! I was ready to cram a big prybar behind there and force it out.

did ya get it out? just wanted to check and make sure it all worked out well for ya. Also, are you doing this with the engine still in the car? i was lucky enough to be dealing with a fully stripped car… man it must be even worse with all the stuff in the car.
Yes finally got it removed. The hard brake like under the brake booster held it in. So I unconnected it under the driver wheel well which gave it slack. Another thing that was in the way too was two black hard pipes that runs near the booster that goes from the firewall to the front of the car. I had to loosen a couple of 10mm bolts so that would get it somewhat out of the way.
Thanks!
