How to remove the transmission linkage roll pin "Bitch Pin"

wtf is a spring hammer?

the pin can be a bitch but the right punch and hammer with a little muscle will do the trick

Yeah but that’s the point of this thread…That using the method described here is way easier for those of use who don’t have a hoist and therefore cant easily swing a hammer.

lol you are missing the point cowboy. people are looking for “tricks” that come with experience like using a header bolt instead of a long punch to knock it out. A header bolt (the one that compresses the spring that goes between a header and cat) is usually short enough and just the right size so that you can swing a hammer and knock the pin out rather easily with out having to “man up” and spend 2 hours swinging a hammer half an inch, which translates to a lot of wasted time.

first off i aint no cowboy no horse in my yard second yes you do need experience to knock that pin out thats why you should use the punch and if it takes you two hours to of swinging a hammer to get it out then i dont think you should be under a car cowboy man up bitches

sorry for ruffling your feathers princess :-*

aint no biggie we all fans of the same car so it ok :nana:

Hey Rayzda, the point you’re not getting is that EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT USING A HAMMER AND A PUNCH and we don’t need a teg tip for that.

I know you mean well buddy, but I’m trying to politely tell you that you’re not helping this thread. So “man up” and go use your big red letters to make a sign or something.

P.S. Comma’s are important…Look it up.

F*ck that I just leave the linkage attached when I pull my motor and/or tranny haha.

He’s talking about spring loaded punches. This is his set that I had borrowed a while back, pulled the pin in about 3 minutes:

Cool! That looks like a good option as well, thanks for letting me know.

:)good call i always uesd the a/c compressor bolt w/ hammer i have 1 in each tool box

I found a punch made just for that pin on the Matco tool truck. It was 10.00 and worth every cent. I’ll see who its made by it wasn’t a Matco tool just something he had.

i know this isnt really a quick tip, but i usually drop the tranny and use a screwdriver and hold a pole say from the jack that is about 3 feet and fits ontop of the hammer perfect and hit from top…works for me

Lost in Yonkers…

I have no idea what this guy just said…

I use this method too. One other tip. Once you get it out, you can replace the bitch pin with an 8mm nut and bolt and never deal with it again.

This method (C Clamp method) is not possible when the linkage is still attached to the trans. There is no room to put the C clamp.

If it wasn’t possible, then I wouldn’t have done it.

Just because you can’t figure out how to do it, doesn’t mean its impossible.

MANY of us have done it.
