It kind of seems that the only way people like Integras is modified. Mine is not. It’s 100% bone stock. It’s the 1990 LS sedan with 5-speed, in Honey Beige, with 119,000 miles. It was a one-owner car until I bought it from a friend last Fall. Bone stock, dealer-serviced. If it was anything but an Integra, people would be drooling all over it.
But it seems like all the Integras I see for sale online are highly modified. Nobody wants a stock car, or something. Maybe the only people who want one without mods are looking for a cheap, rust-free shell to re-body their rusty one, but nobody is willing to travel to the desert to buy one.
I bought it off my friend who couldn’t get a trade-in on it and didn’t want to sell it herself. I really don’t drive it; I only put about 3,000 miles on it since I got it, and 900 of that was the drive home from Seattle to Las Vegas.
What should I do to get my money back out of it? Should I modify it so it will sell?
Not sure about other people on this forum or in general but I’d prefer a stock integra over one that has been butchered to someone else’s taste. I am unsure how much you’re intending to get out of it or how much you paid for it but you should be able to find a local buyer if it’s moderately priced, perhaps you’re asking too much? Just my 2 cents. GLWS.
Check out bring a trailer. It’s a site for rare finds and what not. This would possibly qualify. A lot of 240’s showing up along vintage sports cars and the like. Will be posting a 944 turbo there in the near future.
IMO stock, or near stock, vehicles are by far the most desirable. Especially now that they’re becoming harder and harder to find. Yes, there are a lot of modded ones for sale but at this point I think there are probably more modded ones than stock ones anyway so it makes sense there’d also be more of them for sale. There are a lot of people who buy/sell modded hondas, at the bottom of the price range these change hands a lot I think.
I don’t think the fact that the car is stock is your problem, personally I think the issues lie here:
It’s a 90-91 and the 92-93 is more desirable
It’s a sedan and the hatchbacks are more desirable
It’s Honey Beige, likely the least desirable color
There’s not much demand for DA’s in general at the moment, so really only the most desirable ones in the best condition are going to sell quickly and or sell for a lot of money.
Where are you trying to sell it? I didn’t see it on craigslist, ebay, cars.com, autotrader, or on the for sale forum here. Obviously it won’t sell unless you market it. Bring a trailer, as mentioned, would be a great place if it really is in fantastic condition.
Colin hits the nail on the head… Perfect breakdown. I think a place to start is posting a few photos and an asking price! I drove 8 and a half hours to buy a “one owner GS-R” that turned out to be a bent up piece of crap. I went home with an empty trailer. There is someone out there who is interested, but you need to market it correctly. I have never seen a Honey Beige Sedan… Ever, only 3 coupes!
Well, Bring A Trailer declined me, so that’s out. I tried my local FB Honda/Acura group and didn’t even get a bite at $3k OBO. Here are some photos, I couldn’t figure out how to make them bigger in this post so you can click on them to enlarge.

From the pics it looks to be in good condition but hard to tell if it’s much more than that - paint condition is often hard to tell in the photos. Engine bay is pretty dirty too. If you want top dollar you’re going to want to give it a really good paint correction and full detail top to bottom, inside out.
Unless it’s really in MINT condition and the photos don’t do it justice I think you’re going to have a hard time getting anywhere near $3k. That’s the price range for a good condition more desirable car (hatchback, different color…etc). And yeah, local FB groups are probably not going to be very useful for a stock car like this if you want that kind of money. For that you’re going to want a nationwide platform like ebay.
Yeaaaa, Colin pretty much nailed it. To the RIGHT person, that car is worth it. To most, it’s not a good investment.
I LOVE the Honey Beige with the Urban Brown interior…but I love odd stuff, so a rare colour appeals to me. Most would want to get rid of the brown and modify it.
I say drive and enjoy it. Don’t actively try and sell, just be ready if someone approaches you with an offer.
Keep her and fix it up make it yours make it more enjoyable the integras to me are one the better driving Cars I have been in with in reason! But if you change the oil a b18 will go 200-300k easy man… Maintain it and it will be good to you
