Last Friday I replaced all my heater hoses except for the bypass hose. It is a semi-circle shaped hose that goes between the intake manifold and the water pipe, just under the egr valve.
I bought 6 foot of industrial grade hose for $6 instead of $10 each for 4 pre shaped ones. It works great. However I cannot shape the bypass hose without it kinking. Unless I make the hose a foot long, which would crowd things in too much.
Is there a tool that I can use that will shape my hose so I do not have to go out and spend $10 on a lower quality hose?
Also what is the best way to get to the smaller hoses for the IACV so I can replace them? From under the car, or what. I want to replace all my hoses so I dont have any weak ones to cause problems.
you can. i have the part at work. its a flexible coil that wraps around the hose and can be shaped in whatever way you want. looks like a slinky, but smaller diameter. although the cost of it plus the hose cancels out any benefit to not just buying a preshaped one
I could use the hose that I have, but it would have to be almost a foot and a half long in order to not kink.
I am sold on this industrial hose I found for $6 for 6 foot. This shit is super strong and thick. Was a pain in the ass to get it on the connections though. Not the usual by the foot stuff. Sold in a package coiled up.

A little bit of lube will help the hoses slide on easier.
id just get the propper one. we have that unicoil stuff @ work and it works okay if u want like a 90 on one, but i tried on my teggy in the same spot, and after fighting with it and cursing, it still kinked b/c it was just to tight. so i told my self to stop being a cheap guy and spend the extra few bucks.
Thanx guys. Imma just go out and buy the best quality bypass hose that I can find.
I am having problems with how to get to where the hose for the IACV connects to the water pipe. This is the only hose I think I might have problems replacing myself cause my arms cannot reach far enough under the intake to get to it.
I am trying to get the correct size diameter hoses. I know the larger heater hoses are 5/8.
I heard somewhere the smaller hoses are 5/16. Can anyone verify this? Also is there a size in between? I need a hose that would allow me to connect my valve cover breather to my Short Ram Intake.
