How to tell ithat the engine is actually a JDM b18cr with 200hp?

I’m wondering about how you can tell apart a b18cr from the rest of the b18c’s? Or has the jdm ITR engines from 96-00 always have 200hp versions of this engine?

the valve cover paint. the number i think is p73. B18C5. Dyno

18c r spec has a p73 im. 18c non r spec has a dual stage p72 im. done

intake mani points up on type R the gsr goes down and has the butterflies. the header from 98+ is a 4-1 design made out of stainless steel. i think the gsr is clunky cast iron part. compression ratio is also higher on the type r its 11.1:1 so make sure u get a c/r test on it tranny also has either

tranny has either J4D (96specR w/ LSD)N3E (98specR w/LSD) on it.

stamp on the heads will tell them apart, in case someone did an intake manifold swap.

ITR- PR3-4 (regular b16 heads were PR3-3)
SIR- P72

SIR is the Japanese equivalent to our GS-R

upper radiator hose

trans also may have LSD stamp on it.

and the b18cr engines put out the same amount of power whether it’s a 96 spec or 98 spec?

no. do you have access to google?

you can’t believe everything you find on the web so thats why I wanted to hear it from members of the forum, but anyway. I’ve been offered a 96 spec JDM ITR frontclip for free as payment for a computer job I did. Is this the correct engine (the 200 hp version)?

slightly less horsepower from the header, and cams. the trans is also geared a bit lower.

false.

by b16 on my lsvtec, 89 year head, has pr3-4

then its a type-r. whoever sold that to you didn’t know what they had. unless i am somehow mistaken. but anything i’ve ever read has been what i posted.

i have a B16 head that i’m building right now, its a PR3-3.

what i’m wondering is, did the CTR and ITR share the same head? were both PR3-4, or was there a difference? thats the only thing i can think of, since the CTR is a B16B. so for all intents and purposes it would be a B16 head, but otherwise the 3 and the 4 designate a regular B16 head from a “Type-R’d” B16 head, as they are the same cast, just the Type-R version have different port sizes, and have a mild polish from the factory.

he already said it is a cylinder head from 1989. The year is clearly stamped on the outside so i doubt its a type r cylinder head.

hmm. don’t know then.
