Nice write up.
Innovative Mounts just came out with their hydro tranny kit and it’s pretty cheap in price.
oh really? I never heard of them before. Any idea on cost?
EDIT: I found their website and it looks like they are starting to make kits for both the da’s and the ef’s. Price wasnt posted that i could see but im guessing around 400.
ever been to TX? want an all expense paid trip here when I build my da first 1/4 of 60? heheh

This is a great writeup! Did you have a b16 ys1 or an ls ys1? I want to put gsr gears in a cable tranny. You have to use the b16 tranny case right? Also, there should be a spot where you can show people how to switch the fifth gear to an ls. Still great writup.

i used the LS ys1 case. Someone correct me if im wrong but the b16 case will NOT work for this as its the older style of case. I didnt do a writeup on any gear changes as i didnt change out my 5th gear. I value performance more then mileage

Not completely. You will need the 1.8VTEC countershaft + final drive.
The part differences between an ITR gearset and B16 are the
LSD, the final drive, and the countershaft. Even though both are
still 4.4 ratios.
As an added footnote, the JDM 4.785 FD also uses a different
1st gear, bearing assembly, and countershaft from the other
1.8 VTEC trannies.

Is the grinding away of the inside only necessary if your installing LSD? Or is it cause you need to do it to swap the hydo internals? Also is in nessecary on 92-93 GSR trans also, or just the 92-93 LS trans?
I’ve got a friend that wants to rebuild a 92-93 GSR tranny that he has sitting around. He also has usdm type r gears and LSD. He wants to put the gears in the gsr tranny (maybe the lsd too) when he rebuilds it, and then sell it to me. Since he has no use for the cable tranny. I’m just trying to find out what needs to be done to the gsr trans before he starts on it. Also is it possible to use a LS 5th Gear with the type r 1-4 gears in the YS1 GSR tranny? If so what year LS 5th gear would it be? And is it just 5th gear, or is there any other parts needed?
Or should he just do all the itr gears as is into the ys1 gsr tranny?
I’ve looked through some posts but could find the exact info.
maybe FFoenix could step in here. Im pretty sure he said that there was no grinding needed for the LS ys1 when being installed with a LSD from a type r tranny. I have only did what i wrote about so i cant say for sure about the other cases/diffs.
I dont know for sure but i dont think there is any difference between the ys1 LS case and the GSR Ys1 case. Someone chime in here if im wrong.
I’m not to keen on trannies. But I did do a bunch of searches on here and read through a lot of posts. And I’m am fairly good at understanding. So it’s not like you guys will be talkign to a wall. Just a few stupid and probably repeated questions by me and some correct knowledgeable answers will help me out. I just didn’t get all the info for the exact work we might do.
Also whats the deal with the ATS 4.9 Final Drive I see in some posts? Does that reduce the gear ratios? Which in turn gives you even shorter gears, and a higher 5th gear “cruising speed” rpm?
Also I was trying to figure out what FD my 91 LS has, I see some posts of 4.26, and see some of 4.4.
The 92-93 GSR YS1 tranny has a FD of 4.4?
And does anyone know what FD the 01 usdm itr has?
Basically if using the itr 1-4, and LS 5th, itr FD, itr lsd is the way to go then thats what i’d like to build since we basically have the parts. I’d just need to know what LS 5th gear would be use and what all parts would we need for that.

If you do not have the bolts #1 and 2, you do not have a 92-93 ys1. I just got lied to by a seller.
