im just wondering if any one has tried this. using hydros like from the rear hatch to prop up the hood. i think it would be pretty cool to get good ones and remove the secondary latch so when you pop your hood it just rises up…of course i wouldnt leave the secondary latch off, that might be deadly. but im just wonderin if any one has tried this. comments on the fitment? i think i might be able to mod it so they fit in there but im not sure what it might do to the strength of the hood. someone just tell me im nuts to try this BEFORE i go to the junk yard and come home and start cutting up my hood…
i was thinking of doing the same thing to my car. I know some one that did i to there Mr-2. I will try this once i find the right size lifts to do it with.
yeah the right size hydro might be hard cuz a hood is heavier then any trunk, and most cars in the j/y dont have them for hoods so im just gonna go start pullin till i find ones that hold it. but for the fitment inside i think i figured it out today, if you want i can send you a pic of what im thinking about.
I would think that the hatch is pretty heavy, no? Wouldn’t it compare to the weight of the hood? Just a lil thought…
yes but, the hydros on the hatch dont lift it when you pop it. correct? or do i just have bad struts? probbly somthing a little stronger then those so if i remove the secondary latch the hood will just go up when i pop it.

Yes can you please send me the pic of what you think might work my email is B16da9@aol.com. Also the hatch is prety heavy i know this cause i own a XSI hatch and a 93 GS hatch there heavier than the hood. I put new lifts on my hatch and i just lift it up tiny bit and the thing shoots up like a slingshot.

alright ill take some pics tonight and send them, or tommarow haha. ill try pointing out what im thinking about doing in photoshop, but i suck at it…probbly be better off using ms paint. this weekend im going to look for some strong hydros, and possibly get some new ones for the hatch, i want mine to shoot up like a slingshot haha.
hey. my 91 camaro that i used to have had the hydro things for the hood. the hood didnt really shoot up but i bet if you take the hydros that are rated for the camaro hood and put them on a teg hood then it would probably go up pretty easy. the camaro hood what a lot bigger and heavier. so you might want to check out the ones from a camaro. hth

My bro had a 84 buick regal that had hood lifts. The hood on that thing was huge a heavy i think those would work also.
Hood lifts from an 86.5 to 92 Supra would work. The lifts would be easy to mount on because they just bolt on. You would have to drill holes in the crush supports though. I would use the lift supports from my junk supra, but I am driving without a hood (got in an accident).
