i have an oil leak on my b16a SIRII swap...help!!

So for the last month my teg has been having a lot of problems…

I have a big oil leak coming from my vtec solenoid and i tried replacing the solenoid there but it just blew a new leak within a couple of days…so now I’m stuck with trying to figure out why there’s so much pressure in that one spot…?? and the cam seal isn’t leaking…

There is also one vacuum hose that is just hangin with a plug in it for now…and I can’t figure out where it goes…its towards the top of the intake manifold, which by the way they screwed up with when they made the swap because it says PGM-FI on it (which means that it is the original B18a intake manifold which is wrong for the engine…I know that it is a B16a SIRII for sure…)

Its also doing a random idle…going from 1,500 rpms to 2,000 rpms randomly and it sometimes shakes a bit when I’m at a stop…

when it revs it has a “gurgle” sound as its coming down…I have so many problems with her! could that be the fuel injectors/fuel pump/fuel pump relay??? I heard that these type of swaps have a lot of problems with the fuel pump relay (switch?) not working correctly…

if it is a b16a. The only generations with PGM-FI tag on the intake manifold is the Generation 1’s. b18 IM wont fit on a b16a.

how old is your swap? if its only a month old, did you do all the things needed for a swap? timing. valve adjustment, compression tests, all that good stuff.

Your surging idle would probably be due to incorrect vacuum routing. Look up how your vacuums are supposed to be run (if your hood is OEM it should have the diagram on it). It took me good month to get that fixed. check your throttle body gasket too.

Do you have an exhaust? My b16 “gurgled” also but it was due to the exhaust. I just added a resonator and it went away.

It could also be possible that the new vtec solenoid gasket could have been improperly installed? I’ve heard on this forum that the gen1 b16a have a different type of vtec solenoid gasket, and that the gaskets honda sells dont fit on the jdm b16a.

I had the same problem with my solenoid gasket after my ls/vtec swap. You have to be very careful to fit the gasket in place perfectly. If any small piece sticks out, it will obviously create a rip/hole when you tighten it.
