i got an aftermarket kit that came with the two actuators and a brain to control the passengerside door . I hooked everything up wired it to my alarm and it worked sweet . When i turned the key to on position the doors locked ,when off doors unlocked . They worked with arm and disarm too . All of a sudden now when i push disarm the locks open but close right back up . I hear the relay’s in the lock brain clicking and the alarm brain also but as fast as i open the doors they lock again . Can anyone help me out ?
BTW i did search this and couldnt find an answer to my specific question .
if you’ve already checked the manual for the alarm, I’d look into calling the place that sold you the alarm, or call the manufacturers’ tech support line directly. Sounds like the brain is disarming and rearming in the same duty cycle or something.
If your power locks work w/o using the alarm (ie, you hit unlock, they unlock… you hit lock, they lock), I’d be blaming your ALARM for the problem you’re having, as the locks are working fine on their own.
some alarms have a setting for how fast the doors lock up when they are closed. like when someone walks away from the car and forget to arm the alarm and lock the doors. they automatically lock and arm. check your alarm setting.
the alarm was in the car when i bought it so i don’t have a book for it . Also the locks only work with the remote there are no switches inside the car . Where would i look for a setting ? Would tha be on the brain or would it be somewhere else? Thanks for the help guys .
try and see if u can see what kind of alarm is it on the brain. see what model it is. then check if that model has a setting for how many seconds before the doors closes that the alarm automatically lock and arm itself. there might be the setting on the brain. or u have to use the buttons to set it. i’m not sure where to set it. dont remember how it work.
What else you may want to try doing is try removing the main power fuse for the alarm and let it sit for about 5 min and plug it back in. I know a couple of car stereo, alarm shop owners and they use to tell me to do this when the alarm wasn’t working right. Seem to fix it most of the time. Give that a shot since it’s a easy thing to do. If that doesn’t work, go with everybody elses suggestions. HTH
