I couldnt get a response there. Has anyone know if the distributor bearing was recalled? Mine finally checked out last week. So I took her apart, blown bearing and the shaft scrapped up the internals. I dont believe the bearing and shaft siezed up, but with my luck, anything is possible.
So has anyone delt w/ a distibutor like this? Is there a recall on the bearing?(I hope so). Because Monday after school Im either buying a reman from my local auto store or taking it to my local dealer for parts so I can rebuild it.
If there is a recall, I could use as much info as possible. If not, what would you guys do if you were in my shoes?
Thnx
There was a recall that was for 6 years after the build date or something like 100k miles. This is what my dealership told me when I called and asked them about it. However, there are others on the board who have had more favorable outcomes with their dealerships. It may depend on how your dealer is. I hope this helps.

Talk about chargin a arm and a leg for their service. They quoted me a $500 clutch change, I had the clutch already. I just wanted them to put it in, damn.
But I guess my step-dad knows a tech down at the place, so if I talk to him I might get a deal. As far as the build date goes, Im bummed, 90 teg/ 162k. Shitz
Oh well, thnx for the help man
I was told when my bearing went that the recall is for 92-93 Tegs only … I am sure if you complain enough to the Acura dealer that they will cover it …
btw I am in Canada … so mebe our recall is different.
Ummm,
Did you say Acura Dealer? This place is Honda only I believe. So that just might cancel me out. ****, the closest Acura dealer is about an hour from here.
And if its a 92-93 Im **** outa luck again. This is gettin better and better, I just wanna drive my baby again. boo hoo
I hope its different here in the states.
BY FAR the cheapest way is to rebuild it … all you need is that bearing ($10) … igniton rotor, and a new cap (recommended). Did you say you got the distributor completely apart? I had a bitch of a time with those notched torx screws, and their loctited asses.
Reman sells for $121USD through NAPA … that’s where I got mine after I mangled the core … lol. I have a page I made for the repair … it is not the best instructions, but it is the process I went through to get mine apart … looking at it now I know exactly how to repair it.

hahaha
U had some problems too? What a bitch I wuz thinking. Well I stripped her apart. Snapped 3 screws, holds the bushing bracket to the distributor housing. Found out my contact points were basically plowed out by the lobes on the shaft. So Im thinkin its reman time. I also just stripped out a ****** screw real deep in there. Isnt this fun?
