I need help with the engine oil dipstick tube.

OK, so to begin with, I swapped this B20B P8R engine into my own car, by myself. So I am not mechanically declined. When I got the engine (it’s JDM yo), it didn’t have the tube where the engine oil dipstick goes into. Luckily Del Ray OEM Acura parts had one, which I promptly had shipped to where I am. Now I can’t figure out exactly how this thing goes in, it seems like it should be pressed in, and I am wondering what the best approach is to putting it in is. The engine is in the car, I will not remove it to press the thing in. I need ideas, outside of the box thinking or perhaps knowledge from past experience.

Never mind the tool in the background.

Edit: It is #3 in this parts schematic: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=INTEGRA&catcgry2=1993&catcgry3=3DR+RS&catcgry4=KA5MT&catcgry5=CYLINDER%2BBLOCK%2B-%2BOIL%2BPAN&ListAll=All&vinsrch=no

Stick tube in freezer overnight then press into hole, should go right in, maybe a little twisting/wiggling side to side will help to line it up. 94

So I keep reading either hondabond, JB weld, or o-rings. Any thoughts?

fcm prettymuch summed it up. Get the tube really cold, and it will slightly shrink… Then maybe use oil or something to help it slide into place. Once the tube gets to ambient air temperature, it will fit snug and stay in place.

It doesnt need to be HondaBonded/JB welded, or anything else… its press-fit, as you mentioned.

good call. could use dry ice as well, but yes, freezing will cause the metal to contract. brilliant.
just be sure to go straight from the freezer and into the hole with it. don’t want it warming up at all

sweet choice in motor, btw. very nice indeed
