i need some info about my motor.

i bought a 1992 gsr 5 spd. it has a b18a1. i tried lookin it up and i found that its supposed to have a b17…or somethin…is this right? and about how much horsepower does it have? all it has is a k&n cold air and flowmaster exhaust. i want a bit more horsepower without spending alotta money. and i really want some high performance cams. the last motor i built blew up so imma ask ppl who know a bit more than me for advice. i want the most horsepower without going turbo or spending a fortune. the most bang for my buck…any suggestions?

the horsepower stuff has been beaten to death. however, if it is a real GS-R (which is rather rare) then it SHOULD have a B17A1 in it. give us the first 6 digits of the car’s VIN number. (can be seen on the back of the firewall or right in the bottom right side of the windshield if looking at it from the outside)

K&N doesn’t make a Cold-Air intake for our cars (well, last i checked anyway). however, i think you might mean short ram intake.

but yes, give us the first digits of the VIN number and we will tell you if it is actually a GS-R.

example:

JH4DA9-----------
JH4DB2-----------

which do you have?

jh4da9

Sorry buddy, you don’t have a GSR. Looks like an RS/LS/GS coupe.

That just crushed his world…

yup, just a run of the mill 2dr integra. so the b18a1 in your car is correct.

Im gonna take it the person that sold you the car told you it was a gsr. :tsk:

no it has gsr on the back of the car.

Ummm…ok?

Anyone can buy a “gs-r” badge and stick on the back and call it a “gs-r”. Your VIN# tells it all and doesn’t lie.

the back of my car said Type-R. Even though it was automatic and had a b18a IT WAS A TYPE-R!!!

yeah you got fucked dude. someone slaped a GSR badge on an LS. that sucks, but you should use it as a learning experience. do some research on a car before you buy it. don’t believe what people tell you, expecially in this “scene”. shit, the person that sold you the car might have even thought it was a gsr. either way, you have a b18a1 which either has 130 or 140 stock hp (90-91=130, 92-93=140) and thats at the flywheel, so you don’t even see that much power.

the overall lack of actual knowledge is the problem here.

the b18 isn’t a bad engine though. hell, I have one in mine. lol

I have a B18A1, and I like the power that comes from it. Check it out…

way to jack his thread

Wow, I guess my Integra has a Hemi in it!

^^^^

Your Integra has something BETTER than a Hemi in it.

We have what is called the “pentroof” combustion chamber, which is leaps and bounds better than a hemisperic combustion chamber that utilizes only 2 valves per cylinder and pushrods.

i’d should be better than a hemi seeing as the hemi design was developed in the 60’s if not earlier…

The Wright brothers used what they called “wing warping” to control their Flyer in 1903.

Current (recently finished) research at NASA DFRC is with an AAW equipped F-15 to determine if the deformation of a composite wing structure can be used to control an aircraft. In other words, 103 years later wing warping is still a viable technique that can be applied to the most advanced technological vehicles in existence, regardless of when it was developed. Some ideas and techniques can be viable regardless of how technology changes around them.

Someone should argue that F=ma is invalid because it was developed centuries ago.

i meant… it should be better than the Hemi seeing as acura has access to what has been done in the past and is able to improve upon it. it would be pretty sad if it wasn’t better than the hemi, wouldn’t it? tell you what though, i would take a hemi over almost anything else any day of the week!

Fuck that, G2 forever! I bought this car specifically cause I wanted a G2, & nothing else would do. Nothing else does. Don’t need a hemi when I have a teg. Power to weight! Costs less to build & maintain! You’re not loyal.

“I love my G2, so put another gallon in the gas tank baby! I love my G2, so come on take your time & ride w/ me!”
