I snapped a CV joint at an autocross

I broke an outer CV joint at an autocross in Waterloo, IA today. Yes, a CV joint…at an SCCA Solo II event. The only thing more bizzare is that after breaking it at the end of the first heat I found enough people with enough tools and a guy with a good discount at an auto parts store that I was able to run again by the time our group was ready to run again in the second heat (about 45 minutes). Good thing, too, because my best time posted was my last.

iv broken my pass. and driver side axles on both within the same month. i have a completely stock motor. the driver side broke leaving work babying the car, and the pass side broke taking off hard.

We’ve broke both axles on one run at an autox. One sheared off at the hub, and the other side just blew to peices after the other sheared. At least we knew the LSD was working. Then trying to find axles for a Honda in Winnamucca Nevada was like pulling teeth. Uhhhh, we dont stock axles for uhhhh, what kind of car was that again? We now carry spares to all events.

Its cool there was enough people with parts & tools to get you going again. Thats what I love about the people that autox. Thier always willing to help someone to get them going again. I rarely see that at the drag races. At least here anyway.

Yeah, the drag shows…ahh…races aren’t any better around here, either. Oh well, at least we’ve got good people at the Solo events!

i should make it up to some of the waterloo events, been meaning to just havent planned it yet i guess lol

Next one’s on the 11th of June. We need more g2 representation (I’ve never seen another one besides mine up there). The Honda’s in general are a little weak in numbers, but getting faster. There was a guy there last time who had a 92-95 hatch that must have had some sort of B18 VTEC powerplant in it (SM), and he was QUICK. He ran 2 seconds faster than my best time, but I never got a chance to see what all was done to the car because I was on my back hammering away at my ball joint to get it loose (the axle thing).
