Hello,
I’ve had this sound from the engine bay for about 2 years. It sounds like a pulley/bearing noise but doesn’t seem to come from the belt areas. It actually sounds like it is coming from the engine itself or just behind it. I know sound can travel in weird ways but can it be anything else besides the pulleys? It definitely is not from the AC compressor since I can put my ear up close to it.
Just to add, it is a 1993 GS with stock engine and about 230,000KM.

definitely sounds like a pulley. try remove one belt at a time. see which one causes the noise to cease
I’ll see about running the car to check the alternator which is towards to bottom-back part of the engine. I’ve got the driver’s side of the car up right now with the front tire off due to trying to find out if my intermediate shaft is bad (which is in another post), so I could get my ear close to the alternator pulley.
Still looking for ideas though.
