Well the problem that I have is that whenever I shift between gears, the revs hold for about 1 second then drop steadily. I dont know if its just me or if its just characteristic for our tegs. Please let me know if you experience this thanks.
Are you applying gas? I don’t understand the problem.
When you’re shifting, the rpm’s drop? How is that possible? Of course when you’re at 4krpm in 1st, then shift to 2nd you’re not going to be at 4krpm, more like 3k. Is it doing something other than that?
sorry i didnt explain it properly. What I mean is that when I shift, eg. from 1st and then when the clucth is disengaged and in neutral thats when the revs hold for a second. Hope that helps.
I think this is normal. Kinda like the momentum of the flywheel keeping the revs up because of the rotating mass (?). I know my car has seemingly done this for years, and I’ve never worried about it.
I just talked to my buddy with a lightened flywheel and he says that the RPM’s drop faster between shifts (less momentum) rom when he had a stock flywheel.

My car does the same thing. When revved up, and as you let off the gas the RPM’s hold for abit and then drop. I found this weird at first because all the other cars I’ve driven in the past never did this.
But I guess its just characteristic of our tegs.
Never noticed this happening. Not to say it doesn’t, but if it does it’s probably not unordinary to me. ![]()
I asked this question to a Honda mechanic and I was told that it has to do with emissions and that it is normal.
I don’t think you guys know what he means
I have the same problem in my teg, when you shift into gear and you let out the clutch say at 2k rpm instead of picking up from 2k and climbing, it drops down when the clutch fully engages. I think this problem is a damaged Flywheel or Clutch or maybe a combination of the both.
It’s normal… Open your hood and look for the UFO like thing on the intake with a rod attached to the throttle butterfly, This thing holds the throttle butterfly open a split second after you remove your foot from the gas pedal… An emissions thing…
The UFO thing that “Answer” talks about is the Throttle Valve Dashpot Control Diaphragm and that’s what it does. Don’t really know how the car will run without it but it’s easy to disconnect for a test.

well im glad that it seems to be normal. It just really bothers me so i think i’ll be lightning the flywheel when i do my box… My driveline is hammered, gearbox has blown synchros 2nd 3rd and 4th, realease bearing starting to get noisy, may have a broken damper spring and on it goes…

Car runs fine without it. Revs just drop a lil bit quicker. I ran my car without it for over 2 yrs.
