okay so here the problem with my teg, Im not sure what it is but like every time I first start the car it will start but then it kinda will idle down and wants to shut off. I mean it will shut off, but if I give it some gas for a bit then it stay on and goes to normal. I have put a different throttle body and tps sensor. Also before I did have a leak in vac line from the solenoid purge but got that fix. So now Im not sure what is causing to do this. Whats weird is that the vac line that connect from one of the solenoid purge to the intake manifold. I know that suppose to connect there, but like everytime i connect it my idle drop and if rev it up a few time and let go of gas pedal the car will die. Now when I disconnect the vac line from solenoid purge from intake manifold, everything is fine. Anyone know what may be the problem? will it be okay if i just leave that vac line disconnected?
ok give us a lil bit more info like history on the maintnance and any mods.
for now you should start with the basics like checking the spark plugs for any fawling also the distributore for any corrosion and premature wear. If everything in the ignition dept looks normal then i would maybe say main fuel relay.
okay i bought the car non running and i got it to run again. Now what i have change/swap out is yes i did put another main fuel relay, redid the fuel pump cuz did not hear it prime, change the spark plugs ( not the wires tho ), also tested a different ecu etc.
When you are removing that vacuum line you are mechanically raising the idle so that is why it runs better with a vacuum leak. Connect the vacuum line and start troubleshooting. Does it run okay when it is warmed up to operating temp? Have you tried cleaning or adjusting the fast idle valve? The FITV is a common problem on our cars. It controls idle speed while the car is warming up. Search the forum as this has been covered deeply.
yeah after it warms up it does idle alot better. like i stated it happens every time i first start the car like everyday. I have clean out the IACV but havent done the FITV, i mean I was gonna attempt it but was not unable to get one of the screw off, its kind of stripped so i put it back in cause i needed the car.
You must re-calibrate your TPS again. the middle lead should be reading 0.5v closed. and 4.5v WOT. Search up the forums for an explanation on how to do this.
I’m 99% certain that your problem is caused by the tps. The purge vacuum line should be connected or blocked off.
It definitely sounds like one of the sensors that controls idle… FITV, IACV or TPS.
When you said you changed the throttle body & TPS… Did you actually take the TPS off? Or just swap a whole Throttle Body & TPS assembly over? If you haven’t messed with the TPS itself & just swapped Throttle Bodies, I doubt it needs calibration… But if you actually swapped the TPS sensor over to a different throttle body, then yes it would need to be calibrated as wise_old_dragon says. Hell, I suppose it would be wise to ohm the TPS anyway, just to make sure its in spec.
Otherwise I’d definitely try to clean out the IACV/FITV.
okay i did swap out the throttle body itself that have the tps intact on it still. um I am trying to find the how to do this on the re-calibrate the tps, havent found it just yet but will keep looking. Now I am gonna clean out the FITV and go from there, since that is the thing I have not clean out yet.
thanks for the link
