I have no idea what is going with my teg. My problem is that I get a slight idle drop when I start up my car at operating temperature and when I go into neutral. It drops to almost 0 rpm, and then slowly creeps back up to the 700rpm mark. The idle also tends to do a really slight bounce whenever I apply the brake, or I turn on my headlights. I have a new alternator, plugs/wires, cleaned the iacv, and have clean battery cables. I doubt it has anything to do with start up, because it fires up right away. The only thing I haven’t done was bleed the coolant system. But I had this problem even before I cleaned the iacv. So what could be the problem? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
are you going into neutral from being in gear or just pushing the clutch pedal in while stopped?
if you go in and out of neutral repeatedly does the idle drop and raise along with your motions?
do you hear any noticeable sounds that either start or stop when you apply the clutch pedal?
there is a device on the car called a dashpot, its the round saucer looking thing attached to the throttle body. i have no idea how to test it but that controls the idle somewhat as well.

I put in neutral while I’m rolling to a stop (like say around 10-15mph, when putting the car into first, after downshifting to avoid more use of the brakes). Or when I’m driving past cops (to avoid exhaust fix it tickets) lol. Every now and then I’ll take it out of gear and the drop happens. As far as clutch pedal sounds the only sound I feel that is noticeable, is the oh so legendary pedal squeak. Probably gonna need a new cable.
so it only happens when you put it in neutral? if so, it could be that dashpot, but maybe check for vacuum leaks as well. at operating temp, try spraying some starter fluid in any symptomatic areas. if the idle changes in the area you’ve sprayed, you know where to look.
it’s normal for your idle to dip when you apply the brakes. the booster is vacuum assisted so it pulls vacuum from the engine when applied.
there’s a spring which pulls the clutch pedal back into position when applied. try spraying some lubricant at it before you go and change the cable. it may solve the creaking.

Alrighty, well I guess i’ll have to look at the dashpot. Being as I have checked for vacuum leaks and have done one of those running compression tests for any intake manifold leaks, which resulted in being in specs for no leaks (forgot the number, had it done at school) The creaking I’ll fix when I can get some time. If not, I’ll more and likely just get the Exedy clutch cable on ebay. (I have an Exedy stage 1 clutch, so why not have an Exedy cable too?)
