ok… i filled my coolant up and reset the ecu… when i started my car it idled @ 3000!!! it gradually went lower and lower to about 2000 and then the idle started bouncing again from 1000-2000… i don’t know what the problem could be… maybe throttle spring… but after doing the coolant change and resetting the ecu it bounces from 1000-2000… before it was bouncing from 1500-2500 occasionally 2000-3000… so any help would be much appreciated.
thanks
is your CEL on???
CEL?
CEL: Check Engine Light
HTH!
when your idle is funny, where is the temp gauge at?
nope check engine lite isn’t on… my car idles funny the whole time… it’s like i got a wild cam in there or something but i know i don’t… but the temp is usually around 1/4 to half on the gauge…
the temp should always be at like 1/2 the gauge, just a little less, when the engine is warmed up. if the temp needle goes down, it’s because you have a cooling problem, maybe a stuck thermostat or something similar, and this could cause a funny idle…
I had the exact same problem, I guess a lot of people have this problem with their integras. I fixed it by replacing my Idle Air Control Valve. it sounds like you may need to do the same thing. the only difference between your problem and mine is that once the car heated up, the idle bounce stopped. there is a way to check if it is the IACV or not, but I don’t remember what that is. Did you try tightening down the Idle adjust screw and then loosening it until the idle is normal? another thing that causes this is a bad TPS. You can be sure that whatever is causing it is somewhere in your intake system so focus on that.

mine does it when the engine is not warmed up… it’s really annoying at night VRRROOOOM vrroomm VRRRRROOOOOOMMM vrrromm…
so thanks for the tip!
ok… well i looked at my engine again… and i noticed a hose to the intake manifold is pretty worn… maybe damaged… it’s the hose from where the coolant comes from i think to the intake manifold… another one of my friends suggested the problem could be the cold idle valve?? i duno… ne other suggestions??
thanks
it could be the IACV but i bet my money it’s the Fast Idle Valve. Them things come loose inside and causes it to bleed air and bypassing the IACV. This is how you check it out, pull the fast idle valve off. remove the two 8mm bolts and the cover. you’ll see a diaphram type thing or almost a thermostat look operating system. if it’s all loose in there all you have to do is push down on diaphram thingy and screw it back in clockwise. not the metal part in the center. you’ll see what i’m talking about when you get it opened. that should take care of your idling problem cause it took care of mine and a few customers of mine after me telling them it was the IACV. (mechanics ripping people off again) j/k.
if you guys have any problems or questions, give me a holla.

thanks
e-mail me and i’ll walk you thru.
THERE’S NO GUARANTEE IT’S GONNA FIX YOUR PROBLEM BUT IT’S WORTH TO TRY IT AND SEE.

AZNs the MAN! i took my fast idle valve out and it was freaked, so i used my LS one and it runs perfect now… i recommend cleaning your iacv anyway if you have a lot of miles. THANKS MAN!
where is this IACV?
on the back of the intake manifold… try shooting brake clean in it first… see if that helps… might be clogged a lil… if not… try checking your vacuum lines… and if its not that… pray its not your ECU
for those of you who e-mailed me, pleez e-mail me again cause i accidently erased all my e-mails. i know there was 13 people who e-mailed me on this topic. sorry fellas.

i had the same thing with my integ and it was because the fuel injectors were dirty
