i got a b16a…ive had this problem ever since i can remember…my idle jumps from 1000 to 2500 over and over and over…but theres a little hole inside the throttle body i plug by the butterfly and it stops…its plugged for now but id really like to know the problem so i dont gotta rig it…anybody? thanx
IACV
my B16 was doing the same thing, replaced the IACV (located behind the intake manifold) and what do you know~~~ A nice steady idle. Good luck.
I have an idea of how to prove that it is the IACV causing the problem, but I need someone’s input to see if it’s valid or not. If the idle is set correctly, and you unplug the IACV connector when the engine is running, the idle should not bounce. Plug back the IACV and the idle bounce again, then it is the IACV that is causing the problem. If the idle bounce even when the IACV is unplug, then I don’t think it is the IACV. Anyone agree or disagree?
i bet it’s either a vacuum leak or the fast idle valve and not the IACV. pop the cover off the fast idle valve and see if it needs to be screwed back in. cause it worked for me. i use to have that problem and almost bought a new IACV but good thing i check the fast idle valve first.
KPL…
btw, i agree.
ok the iacv is on the back of the intake right?..held with two bolts…i plugged the holes up to see if that worked and it didnt…wheres the fast idle valve at?thanx to all that replied
below the throttlebody where three 10mm bolt holds it and you have two coolant lines going to it.
I also have an idle problem. My idle bounces and bobs when sitting, then when i use a window or sunroof it drops a considerable bit. Anyones diagnosis is welcome. Peace.
