hey guys i have a idle problem with my car and im pretty sure its the iacv. so my car at first just had a high idle around 1200 so i did some trouble shooting and checked my new vacuum lines, sprayed carb cleaner to see if there was a vacuum leak and there isnt. so then i pulled off the iacv and cleaned it with carb cleaner and simple green and alot of black crap came out and i let it dry overnight before putting it back on the car but now after cleaning it the idle bounces from 1000 rpm and 1500 rpm and sometimes at a light it will go back to just a high idle.
And i dont have the fitv on my car anymore since i have a skunk2 IM so i know its not that. So all that im left with is the iacv. And im pretty sure thats the problem because i even plugged up the iacv port on the inside of the throttle body and it idles at 800 rpm just fine. But i wanted to get your guys opinion before i change out the iacv. And im layed off right now so if anyone has a working iacv that you want to give me a deal on let me know.
I made it halfway through and can’t read any more. Sorry.
sorry i know theres alot to read but i wanted to make sure i didnt leave anything out
Just dividing it made it much better. lol

This guy had the same issue, cleaned it and it was worse. His fix came from doublechecking and found his screen was clogged. Good luck
You can buy a new screen from Honda. I did it, just pulled it out and hammered in a new one.
Poking out old screen
Old screen out (good time to clean it out)
Honda OEM Parts
New screen and gasket in
i dont think i need a new screen. after i cleaned mine it looked really good and the gasket was still in good shape. its almost like the valve is stuck open because the port inside the throttle body thats for the iacv has alot of suction when at idle but when i plugged it up it idled perfect. i think im going to take it off and try hooking it straight to the battery to see if the valve is working.
shouldnt the check engine light come on if the iacv is bad?
These parts are only a few bucks. Why not if you’re taking it out to clean it. The cel doesn’t necessarily have to come on for it to be in bad shape. If it’s just broke, then yeah a cel will definitely come on.
Try the idle screw. I just cleaned my IACV and FIAV then had that issue. Idle was high and I never knew it. Its says under the hood, but it should be 750 +or- 50. Reset the computer, warm the car up right, and adjust the idle screw. Go for a drive.
if it was only high (not bouncy or anything) before, and is now all over the place after messing with the iacv I’d say there’s a good chance its something with the iacv.
doubt the idle screw is going to make it jump up and down like that.
I’d clean it again and replace the o-ring anyway… mines bad and i didn’t even know it until after seeing new ones.
mine LOOKS fine, but its flat & hardened from years of heat and cold.
I just applied some white lithium grease to hold it over but it was enough to get a good vacuum seal and rule out other problems.
so i reset the ecu and turned the idle screw down and it idled fine at 800 rpm but i took it for a drive and it went back to a high idle but when i got home and pulled into my driveway it went back to 800 rpm. so my idle isnt bouncing anymore but its going back and forth from a high idle to a normal idle.
