Idle woes

It has been FOREVER since I have posted anything on here, but I still have my DA and I am having a few problems with it.

The Teg has not seen much action for the past year since I bought another car to use as my daily. About 3 months ago, the car sat for almost a month and a half with little to no activity due to schedule conflicts with work. The car sat with less than a quarter tank of gas this whole time(I know, I know, that’s bad). When I was able start it up again, it started great and ran well as usual. However; when it got to normal operating temperature it started to idle really low and was not smooth. Also, it will give off a small backfire between shifts a lot of the time now. When it is idling and I listen to the exhaust it almost sounds like its missing but not to any specific pattern, the sound is very random. So for the past month or so I have been searching on here and fixing things here and there. So far I have:

  1. Replaced: Coil, Igniter, spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires
  2. Replaced: o2 sensor with a Denso
  3. Checked: the TPS(was .38v at closed so I replaced it but I rotated the new one all the way and was only able to get .41v…weird perhaps)
  4. Compression is even across all cylinders
  5. Replaced: the T-belt, water pump, tensioner about 10,000 miles ago
  6. Checked: vacuum hoses
  7. I adjusted the valves to spec about 3,000 miles ago

I haven’t checked the fuel pump yet because I have heard that its very uncommon for them to go out on Honda’s but the fuel system seems to be the only thing left. Could somebody please advise me on if my symptoms could be a fuel problem before I throw anymore money at this car. The car has no codes and when driving the power delivery is still smooth. I really want to fix this because this is still my favorite car and I want to enjoy driving it again

To Sum it Up:
Symptoms include: Low/rough idle when warm, backfire when shifting

Have you tried the IACV?

I appreciate the response, no I have not cleaned it yet only because I didn’t suspect it due to the fact that it idled fine before it sat for a while. But I put some chevron fuel injector cleaner and have drove about 250 miles in the past 3 days and it has smoothed out almost completely. I still might clean the IACV though. Is it possible for a dirty IACV to cause a random misfire while idling?

Assumed you checked your ignition timing? Replaced old ground wires? No chance timing belt jumped a tooth? Changed fuel filter recently?

Ignition timing is spot on at 18 degrees(advanced it 2 years ago), timing belt is fine and the fuel filter was replaced about 400 miles ago. Funny thing though, I decided to give the throttle body a quick cleaning and now I have a high idle( 850-1000) so I most definitely suspect the IACV now. If the weather cooperates with me I will clean it on Friday and report back. I feel like a douche though because the IACV was the first thing I came across when I searched but didn’t suspect it because of it being a low idle rather than a high idle.

this is a easy one too. try this and the IACV
