Ignition issues

car had the same issue when obd0

Car:
90 db1
b18b
obd1

Issue:
when load is applied, rpm and power drops off. when rpm drops off, audible ping at the cat. no cel, but when its “jumped” it blinks code “20”.

Max rpm:
1st 3-4.5k rpm
2nd 2-3k rpm
3/4th 2k rpm

there is literally no power to hold the car at speed or accelerate. once and a while the car will pull hard or accelerate the car to 30-40 mph.

Items replaced:

 • under hood fuse box <- not sure why, just did it cause it was suggested and the fuse box was cheap.. also i was told the ELD was suppose to be there?? **shrug**
 • alternator has 5k miles on it since rebuild, its from crapzone but checked to be "ok"
 • distributor
 • ecu
 • ICU

i guess the problem is suppose to be the “ELD”, but where the f*** is it suppose to be? any other items you guys might know off hand that might cause this? really tired of this car at this point.

side note:

there is that one plug that goes into the b18a block for some kind of coolant check. right now the sensor is just hanging in the engine bay.

audible ping at cat? have you thought about a possible plugged cat or other fuel issue also have you noticed any odd smells from you exhaust like rotten egg smell or exxcesive fuel smell.
audible ping at cat? have you thought about a possible plugged cat or other fuel issue also have you noticed any odd smells from you exhaust like rotten egg smell or exxcesive fuel smell.
the cat is not plugged. however, it is melting away on the back half side of the cat. this however is not the issue, as it was doing that 10 months ago when i first put the car together. the cat has been on its way out for a while now. the issue has only popped up in the last 1-2 month/s.

there has not been any excessive smells of fuel from the exhaust, but then again when it has the “ping” i am still well off from a stopping point to get behind the car to take a sniff. when the car is first started, the fuel smell is pretty high. but nothing extreme or out of the ordinary for a car of this age/mileage.

side note: the walbro Hp 255 in the tank has been making less noise then before. the pump has about 3k miles of use on it and is the real deal walbro.

do you have a way of checking fuel pressure

fuel pump is a real walbro 255 HP that is a little over a month old. pretty sure its good. i can check pressure though…

the pump is probbably good but i want to see if your fuel pressure regulator is working properly.
