awesome thanks cause it went completely out today… so now i got to jump the starter everytime to start it… and for some reason my radio doesnt come on now lol
So I just did a build in my car and it has been awesome for about 2 years. I replaced fuel pump when I did the build, injectors, MFR new discriputor. Well just the past month it keeps dying on me and wont start. I took it to the shop so they could fix it and they said it’s for sure the ignition switch. If I turned the car on, off, on, off fast the car would start. Any ways I ordered up a new switch from the deal and should be here on Friday. I am going to try and put it in. I was looking for some type of dirrectons or pics and this forum is the closest I got. 91DA6 not to be rude but I’ll neer buy parts from your work or autozone. I’ve had bad luck with swaping parts out once I buy them there.
The ignition switch is super super super easy.
That black steering column part comes off with screws from the underside…I think you need to take off the steering wheel cause there is a rubber band type of deal that hold that black cover together if I remember correctly.
Either way…ignition switch unplugs under the dash. Just follow the harness from the column, cant miss it.
Then unscrew it from the column from the side opposite where they keys goes in (little phillips screws I think).
Then re-install the new one, plug it in, and go.
yeah I did it. My buddy came over to help me because he has done them before. It was super easy though. Hopefully that fixes the problem
so the problem is still there. I took the distributor off to replace the ignition in it and the screw the holds the rotor on was going to fall out. I put some lock tight on it and put it all back together. Went to start the car and the lights turn on but the second I pushed in the clutch and turned the key everything shut down and none of the lights turned on. The car acts like as if there isn’t a batter in it. What do you guys think it might be?
Thanks

Its probably a simple solution. Clean the metal contacts IN the switch. My car would start fine then after a half second, the engine would shut off. I posted in here couple of years ago of my problem. Majority of people said to clean your contacts. Sure enough, they had burn residue on them. I used a dremel to clean it. My car has not had an issue since.
2 cents
91akira looks like you replied to my post on the other post so I guess I wont post here. haha but yeah the distributor is bent. (too much torque) hahaha:rockon:
