Ignition Switch Wiring, etc...

My blower motor, radio, dome light and dash clock do not work.

I’ve checked the wires, no power.

I’ve checked the fuses, no blown fuses.

There are no short circuits, that I’m aware of. Becuase if there were, it would blow a fuse, correct?

So what gives? I’ve been told that when the ignition switch starts to go out, certain things start not working. So, I ordered a new ignition switch from AcuraCarland and Im hoping this will fix it.

To clearify, its a 90 Sedan. To fix the radio, I ran a wire from the fuse panel to the power wire on the STOCK Acura tape deck.

Any other suggestions?

Here is the colors for your ign. harness http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/ click on “vehicle wiring diagrams” then “Acura” then Integra 1990-1993

There are at least 2 if not 3 or 4 differant circuits not working in your car,
1- Blower motor, only works when ign. is in the run position, have you checked the main acc. fuse in the under dash fuse box
http://s87062157.onlinehome.us/gallery/Installs/DSCN3762 the 40A one under the “lock” tab, also check and make sure the fuse mounting screws are tight.
2- Dome light, hot at all times, [fuse 14 15A under dash fuse box] Does the trunk light work? If you have “map” lights, do they work? Do the trunk and/or door “open” indicators in dash cluster work, [fuse 23 7.5A under dash fuse box] try on all doors?
3- Radio, memory is hot at all times, [fuse 14 15A under dash fuse box] same as dome light, acc. hot in acc. and run, [fuse 22 10A under dash fuse box]
4- Clock, sorry can’t help much there, but it may share both the dome light and radio "hot at all times fuse, and the hot in acc. and run fuse.

Other then the dome light, and hot at all times for the radio and clock the only thing that is common is the ign. switch, you should test the outputs…

Turn ign. switch on to acc., [one click] there should be power on the yellow wire.
Turn it to run, [2 clicks] there should be power on yellow, black/yellow and blue/white.
Turn it to start, [spring loaded 3rd position] there should be power on black/yellow and black/white.
Once running, [ ign. switch returns to run position] there should be power on yellow, black/yellow and blue/white.
If this is all good there is nothing wrong with your ign. switch, and the problems are someplace else, and as I said, the dome light is on a constant power, [hot at all times] circuit and is not effected by the ign. switch. :hmm: 94

ive read that before. really wish you were local. got any pictures of where to look for what im looking for? heeeelp…

Pix of what, what are you looking for that you can’t find? :hmm: 94

i found it. i’m hoping it was that 40 amp fuse thats blown. its the only fuse i didnt check. when i replace this fuse, do you think it will restore lost power?

If it’s blown yes, but only to the switched acc. circuits, not your dome light, it is not a switched circuit.

How about the other questions I asked about your dome, map and trunk/hatch lights? :hmm: 94

yea, the fuse was gone. so now i need to find another.
about the other questions, im going to confess. i wired a set of dome lights from a coupe into my car. wired directly to the oe dome light. so, since then it hasnt worked. i suspect a grounding out occured. ill investigate more. now that the trans is blown.

bringing back a dead thread.

well, i replaced th 40A fuse. got power to the switched wire on the radio.

the clock only works when you press the ‘reset’ button.

any ideas?

im going to check the 10 and 15 (dash fuse panel) amp fuse and also retrace the wiring if possible. i may pull the dash out as well.

fcm… help

there is a trunk light, atleast not for the past 5 years there hasnt been one. the dome doesnt work.

its in a sedan

OK, what still does not work? :hmm:94

constant power to the radio

the clock only works when you press the reset button.

That would be fuse 14 a 15A in the under dash fuse box and the white/blue wire at the oem radio harness, the clocks constant is probably the same fuse, although I would pull the clock and check and see what you do not have at the plug, [12V+ constant, 12V+ acc., ground, there is also a “dash light” power] sorry my Haynes manual does not give me any colors for clock plug but ground will be black and “dash lights” will be red/black and it would not surprise me if the constant power was white/blue. :hmm:94

that it was.
i was actually missing a fuse and one of the 15a’s was blown.
replace those, wired the stock radio harness up
and everything worked.
im so fucking happy.
thanks for all your help.

i even checked all fuses before i started replacing shit, nothing was out of place.

Reviving dead thread because i really need help and no one on any page i have posted so far has helped me. I got a brand new ignition switch replaced and my blower motor and radio would not work. I replaced the blown 40amp fuse which was not blown untill after i got my car back and got the blower motor to start but the radio will not start. Sometimes it flickers rapidly on and off. Please help guys i really need to figure this out. Thanks. (the radio is an alpine deck with a single cd player and i have got no power at all going to the radio fuse for some reason although it is powered straight to the battery anyways. Car also had an alarm that is now disconnected due to dealer saying they couldnt touch aftermarket alarms and stuff)
