I wont do too much w/ this transmission anyway even if its not an LS transmission, ill just deal with it.
But i’m trying to see what transmission i have, because it seems like its revving too high for an LS transmission. when going 70 mph, i’m turning about 3250 rpms…is this right for an LS transmission, or does this sound like a short geared transmission?
I will try to get the tranny code later today on my lunch break from work, but i was seeing if anyone, without knowing the code, knows if i dont have a LS tranny…yes it is still cable. i bought the car recently and the transmission and head looks to have been cleaned (almost replaced) but i dont know. i’m not savvy on gear ratios at all…
LS trans @ 70MPH looks about 3200rpm.
Short-gear’d B16 trans @70 looks like 3600rpm.
I’m on my phone so I can’t get the exact numbers… but on a PC if you put your cursor on the graph at whatever speed & gear you want it should tell you the precise rpm.
ok idk about 70mph cause i do 80 everywhere but all my LS transmissions turned 4k at eighty and the trans I have now turns 4500 at 80mph. I assume that means I have a GSR because a friend of mine has a DB2 and her trans matches mine gear for gear. Then again I’ve been told GSR and B16 Cable trans all have the same ratios.
i dont know if thats true about cable transmissions, but i know thats wrong as far as hydraulic transmissions…B16s have a shorter gear ratio than the GSR with hydro trans
Ya it’s only with cable transmissions. There is one exception though if I’m not mistaken I read some where that one of the B16 cable transmissions are just a hair shorter then the rest but they’re pretty hard to find.
i’m not too sure about that. but i’m also not looking to race this integra either. i was just curious to make sure that i had a LS trans and that the transmission wouldnt hold me back from optimal MPG.
that’d be interesting to find out what trans it is though.
yeah the cable LS tranny is shorter than the hydro LS tranny which is why it seems like its a short geared tranny (if youre used to a DC integra)… as for cable GSR vs B16 trannys the cable GSR is actually shorter than the B16
