I went to the salvage yard to pull an A1 transmission out of a 91 LS. It took me 4 hours with hand tools. I needed the inner case to fix my CRX. They charged me a $30.00 core fee. I asked why they charged a core fee for a used transmission. Their reply was " We are just cashiers" . So now I have to throw together an S1 that I have ( broken case ) laying around to get my $30.00 back. The S1 will be missing most of the internals. I should be a jerk and return an empty case. I could throw an Excursion hub inside to add weight…

So, the getting old part, not only did it take me an extra hour and I bitched about the core charge I am sore as hell! The good news is the tranny is very clean inside with very little wear. There was almost no metal on the magnet. I will be bagging the internals in oil for later use. I will take the case to be hot tanked later this week to make sure it has no cracks.
