I'm tire of breaking axles!

First time out this year… brand new discontinued MH slicks (supposed to be better then the newer ones :idunno: … get in the burn out box, got them real hot, car started to pull to the right and I knew at that time the drivers side just broke and that was just the burn out.

Drivers side axle is stuck inside the intermediate shaft, I got towed home by a local Art Morrison employee for $25 and a shot at the bar later on that night

Anyhow… I’m making 410whp/265tq… I’ll be up to 500 soon enough; does anyone have any other suggestions other then the drive shaft shop.
I’m looking to spend 1k+ (if thats what it takes) on a set of axles that arent going to let me down at the tree.

Suggestions?

damn let me know im having the same problem!

I’m thinking about just buying the driveshaftshop ones but I’m not sure if its worth it… I want to talk to them on Monday. I want something that is NEVER going to to break hehe… or close to it!

There is a problem I’d like to have…

Good luck…

i have the same problem with my drivers side axle. its stuck into the intermediate shaft. i broke it at the track and had to “rebuild” the broken one to avoid needing towing a long 1 1/2 drive home. lol

looks like i need a new intermediate shaft and some REAL axles lol

If you’re looking for another option, call Marty at www.raxles.com . See if he has a solution for you. Tell him that Neil from G2IC sent you.

I wouldn’t bother with raxles or gator if I was you. There are a few better choices. Either preload the car (have seen multiple cars go low 10’s and into the 9’s with stock axles) or buy yourself a set of driveshaft shop axles, and call it a day. Frank @ DSS is very good with customer support, and is always helping out the racers. They might cost a bit initially, but the end result is worth it. For the best price call either Tom @ Camp1320.com or Miller @ NRG Tech, both can be found on Honda-Tech.

its all in the preload and don’t dump the clutch, feather it out. Seen many cars with almost 2x your power level on stock axels

Has to be either DriveShaft Shop or Gator Axles

this is going to be the answer to all of your problems. http://www.driveshaftshop.com/AcuraIntergaparts.ivnu

Lol I have the same problem as you. I break an axle every race weekend. Always the passenger side tho. But again, I do daily drive the car so I don’t want to spend huge bucks on a hub/axle kit because if you break it, you have to order new ones from DSS or whoever since you hae their new larger hubs. I like to keep the weak link on somethnig cheap, and that is a 15 minute replace job. Axles. I run BFG Drag radials, with preloading the 2nd gear burnout and launch.

BTW, what kinda ET/Traps are you running on DOT tires and Slicks?

Few things to remember… Everyone might be running 9s, 10s or whatever on stock axles but the object isnt to go out there with spending minimal money and running unsafely. I’ve ran 12’s last year on stock axles, an exedy clutch, and 23" slicks and managed a 12.72@116 w/330hp.

This year, I have a twin disk, same size slicks, 130hp more then last year and tried to launch at 9.2k on a twin disk. The twin disk is what broke the axles! :duh:

Anyhow, I’m going with DDS I think; I’ve already talked to Tom @ Camp; he always takes care of me. I need to just do it right the first time and be done with it.

I know its a fortune to buy the DSS axles but if you want to be consistent, win rounds, and bring home victories, your not going to do that on cheap or poorly manufactured parts AND if you do all this already on cheap / poorly manufactured parts, well, your time is coming sooner then you think :stuck_out_tongue:

Neil: how good are these Axles that your talking about?

I think it all comes down to high serious you are about drag racing. I enjoy it, but it’s not what the car is completely geared towards. I still grocery shop in it afterall :stuck_out_tongue: From what I’ve read/heard about Raxles, you should steer clear of them. Sach them on HT, everyone that has used them seems to claim they are just OE axles with green cv boots.

I totally agree. Thats why I’m so stuck on what to do. I’ve got this Integra that is only a 1.6 stock sleeves that makes 420whp safely. The engine is really happy still. I just redid the tranny (2.2k later)… I mean I’ve done everything BUT get good axles. But the catch to all of this is my new project. When am I going to draw the line with this car and move on… I’m getting bored of the Integra and want to start playing with my BBC

try gator axles they have not let us down yet. they are always run in all are cars and he sponsors are race cars. he can build u anything u need and they have a lifetime warranty on them. give them a try www.gatoraxles.com

Haha totally. I’m also getting tired of the G2 in a sense. But I’ve also got a 90 AWD TSI talon I’ve been modding as well, and I just picked my old 90 civic DX hatchback back up today… :stuck_out_tongue: Funny, all my cars are 90’s

Watch out Tchleung once those axels go in hes coming for the #1 Spot…

Uh oh, better order me them slicks… lol.

hahaha

just take your balls out of the purse and do it!!!
