Image usage on G2IC

Redoing the image saving thing to see if it will grab all the images this time.

Sounds good any word on removing the upload limits? There’s no need for it if you have a decent amount of HD space on the server cause what it’s at now is pretty useless

Damn you’re still seeing it? I turned off the limits 2 days ago… I’ll get back to you.

Oh idk I haven’t bothered tryig to upload anything because I reached my limit just hadn’t seen an update about it so it may be gone lol sorry for the confusion

will there be bandwidth restrictions?

No bandwidth restrictions.

Okay I put a message in every post-reply area and new thread area stating not to type in [IMG] code manually, because this defeats the purpose of saving images on the G2IC server.

There are still some broken links from images but it seems like they were all hosted on Photobucket. The program runs so that it searches through the threads and downloads the images. If the program cannot get the image - most of the time due to bandwidth limitations or Photobucket’s server timing out, it won’t grab it, and that’s where the problem lies. If you see your thread suddenly has broken links, please reupload it using the IMAGE icon so the images are not lost.

You can still edit your post to get the original link by removing “www.g2ic.com/images00/” from the image’s URL.

TBO, this is absoulutly retarded. I spent massive amounts of time on my wire tuck thread and in the last week I recieved multiple email saying pics are down. I dont have time to shit and shave lately, now I have to fix every picture in that thread and countless others

I thought the whole point of this server update was to prevent this from happening :wtf:

Neil, I know this was just a nasty side effect of what apears to be someone elses mistake and im not trying to be a dick, the whole thing just chaps my hide/endrant/

If you see a thread in which the images aren’t working, post the link to it here and I’ll fix it back.

not sure because of the age of this thread if the images were there before but take a look at this one

http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35534

It seems I cant view any pics on any thread, I searched “cant view pics in threads” and nothing came up about that. Theres only a white box with a red X where the pics are soposed to be, I tried right clicking, show picture, and nothing happens. This is the only site that does that for me. Thanks. Great site by the way!

alot of the links got messed up when the database was moved or when neil tried to back up the images onto the server itself instead of being hosted on photobucket etc.

the images are still there the link is just messed up now. to view “most” of the pictures

you would right click open in new page/tab then delete the http://g2ic.com/img00 or something like that. but just now i took a quick look through the forums and it seems like neil either deleted alot of the old lings or he disabled the [img] code cause i’m seeing alot of blank posts and no pictures.

neil if you need help with anything on these boards shoot me an email. i’d be glad to help out.

Here is one thats not working

http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?190374-Da-s-on-Low-Offset-wheels!!!

Okay guys the images should be fixed so that they work as they should BEFORE we moved to the new server. i.e. If it worked right before the site was moved, it should work now.

Just using the G2ic’s upload page… my upload limit has been cut to 500.0KB is this permanent or will you raise the limit again?

X2 is the upload limit going to change or is it going to stay that low

X3 - I have uploaded maybe 5 total images and cannot add images to any of my posts anymore. kinda kills the fun in my build thread since all I can do is past links from photobucket into the post.

The limit on each individual file 500KB, but there is no total limit per user. Can you guys be more specific with the problem? Are you experiencing an overall limitation of 500KB TOTAL?

Nevermind, I found where the limitation was. It was hiding in a usergroup permission. I raised the limit to 3MB. Please don’t abuse this and keep the file sizes small.
