In an effort to never lose a posted image again, please only use the “INSERT IMAGE” icon that looks like when you would like to include an image in your post. If you manually copy and paste the link into the message body, the image won’t save on G2IC.
(I have asked people to use the attachment feature but not many follow these instructions, so I have had to “force” the usage this way.)
If you would like to add an image to a post after you have already created it, click the “GO ADVANCED” button. You will not see the attach image icon in the “quick edit” screen.
Using this feature downloads a copy of the image onto the G2IC server so that in the event that the image host expires, or there’s a bandwidth limitation, etc. the image will not get lost.
I agree that how-to’s and the like need to be saved to the site, but what about for sale threads and general picture posting. Are we going to have size limits on the total number of pictures like the tiny 200kb it was before? And what about a total number of pictures, is there going to be a point where we have to start deleting pictures to make room for new ones? I’m all for getting people to use the img attachment, because I definitely hate running into broken links, but I dunno man. Is there an option of disabling it for the for sale forum for example
yeah i’ve already noticed this you have a running total so i’ve posted 2 pictures in two threads and now i’m over 50% of my “limit” if your on a dedicated box i’d setup some type of web uploader for images, so you have your own personal “imageshack” or something theres scripts out there for this and would keep the pictures local
the other problem is once you’ve posted you can’t go back and edit the post and add pictures to it with out linking to offsite, and actually i just clicked the image button and it doesn’t do anything now. so my linked pics are dead and i can’t upload new ones?
More than likely I’ll be eliminating the attachment limit.
Lownslow… I don’t understand what you’re talking about in the second part of your post. Could you elaborate ? Tell me exactly step-by-step what you’re trying to do.
far as I know there’s no way to disable the img code and save old pics
Neil if you click edit post then click the button for images it wasn’t popping up an attach image so say you make a fs thread and say you’ll add pics pater you’ll have to make a new post to attach images because you can’t add them to an existing post or at least I couldn’t

After you click edit, if you click go advanced you get the little insert image icon.
Ok this works but the problem is thousands of images are now gone and editing all the threads will take weeks lol I say enable the images but make a rule or try and get everyone to attach images from now on
Damnit, none of the images should have disappeared! I’ll have to check out the links. If you see any threads that have missing links, post the link to the thread here.
The IMG code isn’t disabled, it’s just been changed so that any picture that is linked to a post is automatically saved to the server and linked from G2IC, instead of another site. It looks like right now there was a glitch in moving all the old images over to the G2IC server. New images shouldn’t be affected.
I already said I’ll remove the restriction per person, but I’ll do that after we get back the current images that seem to be missing.
when the back up was done seems it double added the g2ic part hence causeing the broken links, not sure of an easy way to script a fix people may just have to go through and upload new pictures.
Some images weren’t grabbed because of various issues with servers timing out etc. To bring the images back, just edit the post and remove the “www.g2ic.com/images00/” from the image URL. The image will be linked back to the off-site page.
However I’m noticing that even those that were originally on the G2IC server that were resaved, aren’t working. So that doesn’t make sense. I’m working with the guy who ran through the process.
Anyways, please re-upload them using the image attachment feature so they don’t get lost. We’d all really appreciate it.
EDIT: BTW It looks like Photobucket is the culprit.
Well it can’t be all photobucket cause that’s where all mine are hosted and some work and some don’t also I already can’t upload anymore photos and I’ve only uploaded 3 lol
