imcnblu's build thread (2012 UPDATES page 26)

hurry up already!!!

So, the shop’s gonna be closed tomorrow due to the weather we’re getting. Calling for a lot of ice and snow, so my day is ruined :frowning:

Going to have to wait until either Saturday or next Tuesday.

Called shop, they were open.

Turns out, they sold the motor I was going to pick up today. So, I called J-Spec Motors in Ashland, and they are going to match the price for me for the swap, so I’ll be going to get it saturday morning. It’s gonna cost a hair more, as there is sales tax, etc. but since the price is still in the same range as the first one I had lined up, I can live with that. It still beats the price of having stuff shipped here.

jakey pooh…a build aint a build until you start wrenchin. do work son!!!

me luv u long time.

wrenching to commence soon. Buying the wife a CR-V on tuesday, then I get the CB7 as a beater, so I can start work on the DA. taking things out, cleaning up the bay, doing a mild tuck, etc.

I did, however, do some wrenching on my buddies WRX today. Installed an AEM cold-air intake and blox Velocity Stack kit on it. installing a BOV and turbo-back exhaust in a few weeks for him. making money doing easy installs helps fund builds, so I’ll gladly spend an hour a week working on his car  after that, he’s getting some coil-overs and I’ll be installing those for him as well.

See harry potter pissed off the sleeping willow and now it beat up your car thinking it was his lmfao jk!

So, went and picked up the swap yesterday.

Was offered an LSD trans by the shop (J-Spec Auto, in Ashland, VA) for an additional $350. I initially declined, but after some negotiations, we settled on a MUCH lower price. So, I ended up getting the full swap, with a really nice LSD trans for a hell of a deal. price is gonna stay quiet, because he cut me a deal that he wouldn’t cut for most others, as he’s REALLY close friends with a friend of mine in Richmond. So, I got it for less than the “buddy price” lol.

hey, will I be able to use my current throttle cable for the B18C swap?

My B18C is GS-R spec, with the dual runner intake manifold.

it isn’t ideal, but it works fine.

ok. I mean, I can get a brand new OEM cable for, what, less than $30 from the dealer, right? I’ll just go ahead and order it, since its the correct length, etc. I’ve already spent enough on this, so what’s another $30? lol

whats your email again? i’ll email you my cell number

DC2 GS-R short ram intake came in today. Not using the filter with it, as I ordered the Blox Velocity Stack kit to go with it. That will be here on Thursday.
According to UPS, HASport mounts will be here tomorrow, as well.

The core stuff is starting to show up

Your putting some nice parts into this car. Is the car Gona be at the east coast Honda meet?

oh yeah, it’ll definitely be there.

This showed up yesterday:
(cheap GS-R Short Ram intake)
*came with a filter, but its being discarded See below

These came in today:
(Hasport DA2HY B-series mounts for Hydraulic transmission)
(Also pictured, 2.5" Weld On flanges and the 3 hole gasket)

header came in last week.
This will be in tomorrow:
(Blox 3" Velocity Stack kit)

This will be in on Thursday:
(Vibrant 2.5" High Flow Catalytic Converter)

I’m only waiting on the 2.5" donut gasket that I ordered for the header, and the Innovative B-Series cable-to-hydro actuator to come in. Current, the cable-to-hydro setup is on backorder, but it should be ready in about 2 weeks or less. When it comes in, it’ll be shipped to me.

After that, I’ll have everything I need for the swap to commence. May order a GS-R throttle cable this Friday.

how much did you pay for the blox stack and filter? Where’d you order from?

I’m just using a stock GSR intake right now because i prefered the clean look, but i’m wondering if this set up you have will help my engine more… it’s fast, but there’s just something about it that seems lacking.

BTW, I’m running a b20vtec (gsr head) in my DA

I ordered through amazon.com (as it had the cheapest shipping rate that I could find). The grand total ended up being $75.49.

I could have gotten it on eBay for cheaper, though. But, I don’t have my paypal account sync’d with eBay anymore (actually have a new account, and didn’t have time to straighten out all that stuff)

My friend found the 3" kit for $60 shipped on ebay. He put it on his 05 WRX a few weeks ago. Dyno’d a rather impressive 11hp gain. Makes a nice little noise, too. I’ve read many good things about the Blox setup, as well as the proprietors of the kit (the one’s that made the original mold) BPi Flowstack, and have seen some really impressive results with it, even on stock or mildly modded motors. Both NA and turbo/supercharged.

For a small price, and decent proven numbers, I can’t see the harm. That’s my philosophy.

EDIT

Btw, Vibrant 2.5" high flow cat came in today

Jake, just a heads up, I think you might have to use the old posts that connect to your motor mount (drivers side).

Glad to see the build coming along Jake. I’m dying for winter to end so I can begin mine.
