imcnblu's build thread (2012 UPDATES page 26)

Sooo clean!!! We both have Captiva’s with the same side skirts and front lip. Great minds think alike

Nice work on the build.

Thanks, fellas. You guys have some top shelf builds going on, as well.

did you get my text the other day. Ive got some spare 3 inch aluminum pipe bends if your interested.

nah, which number did you send it to? i haven’t heard from you in 19 years :stuck_out_tongue:

No more K series talk?

Jake are you going to the summer ia meet? Would love to see this in person

Ominous, it’s still an option. Just a long way from being on my radar of things to do. A few years down the road, this will become a serious project. Until then, it’s just ideas and considerations.

Herb, where is it at? I have a busy summer planned out, and have to miss the East Coast Honda Meet this year, and that’s my usual “big event”. When and where? It’s hard for me to keep up with events these days, lol.

It’s at the Kentucky speedway the last weekend of July I think, not living in philly I miss a lot of meets but i usually make it to the summer ia meet. This one is nice because it’s only 60 miles away this time lol

Okay. If you get a chance to find out the date, let me know on here of bookface. I haven’t been through Kentucky in a long time.

July 20-21

damn, you’re not makin in to ECHM? i never did meet up with you last summer down there.

Yeah, I had already planned out a family vacation for that weekend, about a month before the dates were announced. I’m trying to hit up some other events this summer, though. But, this is going to be a busy one for me.

Hey …I see you are…ummm were running the Gsr intake manifold with ABS , and you still have the fuel filter in the stock location…how did you piece together that intake??? and how did you make it fit??? Just did the same swap, lol…running no intake for now…

yeah, none of that stuff was in the way (fuel filter, ABS, etc.). there are several ways to run an aftermarket intake with that dual runner manifold.

the way I did mine was, first and foremost, relocated the battery so I could have the filter sitting where the battery normally sits. I took the DA specific short ram intake that I’d had for years, and cut it just under halfway down the pipe. I was able to put the intake on and had plenty of room and angle to work with running the pipe down lower than it normally would be with a conventional IM. Though, sine this would have had my filter pressed against my plug wires, I decided to take another relatively straight piece of pipe (about 6 more inches) to get it away from the plug wires where it sits, now. reason I did it this way was because I’m running a velocity stack with oversized filter that would NOT fit between the battery and fender area where the filter would normally sit.

If you’re not going to run a big velocity stack and oversized filter, you can buy a DA specific short ram (or cold air) intake, cut it right behind the battery, allowing you to have a place to use to rotate the section of pipe that goes to the throttle body. Still looks pretty clean this way. I used to have a picture of this setup that a member on here did with his that illustrates this exactly, but I seem to have lost it.

Just order a DA specific intake, cut it in the middle, rotate the portion that goes to the throttle body downward, use a coupler to link the pieces together and enjoy.

EDIT
I couldn’t find the pic of the other member’s bay that illustrates what I was talking about. But, here is an old pic of mine that I edited to show you where you’d want to make the cut:

found the pic i was looking for:
Owner of this car and pic is member 92BlueTeg:

hope that helps.

So basically he cut the cold air intake down, and made a “short ram” for the b18c1 for our cars??? I think AEM should definitely come up with an intake for a c1 swapped DA…I still need to delete my ABS, and relocate my battery. and then once I get an inline fuel filter setup I could run the AEM short ram I have for the 94-01 Integra…I might just pick up a cheap cold air and do this for now, and then sell it to another G2IC member once I ball out and get the rest of my stuff.

So basically he cut a cold air intake down and made a custom short ram…super innovative…Thanks man that is uber helpful. Ill try to pick up a cheap CAI ASAP.

Didn’t mean to double post lol…I though my original post didn’t make it, didn’t feel like typing all of it again, so I shortened it up, now Im typing even more to explain the situation. :bang:

hey i know its probably a long shot but do u still have the ps stuff and ac stuff??

It’s not difficult to keep the ps and AC with this swap. The easiest way would be to reuse your original pump, compressor, and brackets.
