in my 7 day waiting period

i got a spare set of taillights if you want to try them out. They are 92-93 ones though.

thanks dampa-chi, I ordered the gaskets already but if it still leaks after this then I will definitely try another set of tailights…the thing about water is…its such an illusive biach. i WILL post results after I get the OEM’s…I think im going to pull the intake manifold off, and do the water connection pipe with all the coolant lines, replaced w/factory parts…I want to do it once…and done!

some updates…finally getting to work on the da a little bit.

scrubbed the carpet and seats for about the 3rd time, got a button cover for the clock on the dash, fixed the lower dash that wasnt lined up quite right.

also i got sick of the threads hanging off the rip in the bolster, so i hemmed the tear and stitched some new fabric in

i was talking earlier in the thread about a coolant leak in the back of the block, i though it was the o rings in the crossover pipe…buttt i traced it to the coolant lines running to the thermo valve…

the lines aren’t as kinked as it looks haha
replaced both the lines, flushed and bled the coolant system, car stays at perfect temp always now, and the best part no leaks!!!

also started stripping out the ac crap.

dont worry i will be doing a good once over on the engine and bay once the winter is over!

also picked up this MINT hatch, only had to switch over my wiper, and 3rd brake housing…and clean it, it was in a salvage yard and was filthy!

(you can see my a6 in this pic, i havent driven it since i put the da on the road…sorry ole girl!!! haha)

its a different red, but after i fix some surface rust and get a new fender i will be painting the car anyways so its fine for the winter!

also got the mid-pipe done at lous custom and the car is incredibly quiet now i love it, but i also removed the air silencer so under a lil throttle, i get some nice intake sound…

Drove the car about 200 miles over thanksgiving, and drove flawlessly…now to move on to the bushings in the suspension and get her feeling tight!!

Keep up the good work. Little stuff here and there is paying off. I thought the northwest was bad on cars, Mass. has done a number on this ride.
Do they salt the roads there?

ohhhh yessss do they salt the roads here…more than rold gold salts their pretzles. That being said, suprisingly for me and also the reason i bought the car was that all the important metals are in tact. just surface rust mostly, and i feel the only total body part i need to replace is the pass side fender. not for rust, but because of several dents.

as for the suspension im thinking about going with the energy suspension hyper flex kit, and as for the rear trailing arm bushing, im going to go with the rubber sleeveless mount, i am thinking it will be easier to burn out the old rubber that i cant trim off and then press the new one into the existing sleeve.

im trying to mainly get every single thing in the car working 100% the list i have left now is

bulbs behind the hazard and fog light switches
fix coin slot
aquire ashtray
get floormats

im all over the place i know, but i really enjoy this car, its a blast to drive. this will be a car i finish.
