Innovative Hydro conversion installation

Well this weekend me and a few buddies of mine got to intsall the hydro coversion and replacement mounts from innovative along with a stage 3 clutch, an 11lb flywheel and a 00’ gsr tranny. I dont have pictures yet because we did it yesterday and for the most part it was dark because we got started late so im going to try and get pics today, but in the meantime i thought i would voice my opinion so you guys can decide if you want to go this route when that cable tranny gets tired.

Fitment
the fitment of the mounts was actually pretty good compared to my place racing mounts. everything lined up for the most part, and the only pita was the rear mount, and thats always a pain no matter what. The linkage for the mounts fits pretty well, although I had to put on a slim fan because of the placement of one of the brackets. However that is my fault because I have an extra thick radiator and kept the stock fan, if you have a stock radiator setup it should fit fine. Also these things are car specific and year specific, and it may have been my car because i have trouble with it, but in order to get the linkage to fit right i had to bend the front mount bracket out of the way. It would be better to cut it off, but we did not have the tools to do that last night. The kit only comes with 3 mounts, eliminating the front mount, and to tell you the truth my car actually feels better without it and I have less vibration with these mounts then i did with my place racing.

Difficulty
The installation really wasnt any harder then your normal mount replacing. as mentioned before the only pita was replacing that rear mount and bending the front mount bracket to get the linkage into place.

The linkage seems to work pretty well, I need to spend some time adjusting both it and the clutch cable to get the best pedal feel, although it doesnt help with that stage 3 clutch cause its stiff as hell, im hoping it will loosen up a bit after its broken in. Im really happy with the whole installation, the only thing that bothers me is that in order to get the cable to where the linkage is you have to pull it over the valve cover, i think with some time i can tuck it under the intake manifold and then under the distributor, if not then i will be looking at other cable clutch cars trying to find one thats a tad longer, maybe something like a prelude.

Thanks to all those people that helped out here, my new friends Henry, Noi, and Boo, LsdMotorsports for the clutch and flywheel, and Ebay for the Innovative mounts which by the way if you search 93 integra mounts on ebay you can get the innovative mounts at an excellent price, i got mine for 100 less than usual.

I hope this helps everyone and maybe help make the decision to go hydro, I can wait to get the clutch broken in so i can see how hard the clutch rips and how good the shorter gears are to that tired ls tranny i had.

Also, I did find on my drive home with the 00’gsr tranny i was doing 70mph at about 3700rpms which isnt too far off from the ls, so it def. has a good 5th gear

It’s impossible to have a front mount with that kit? Lame. Thanks for the info though, pics please?

hydro trannies dont have a place for a front mount the same way a cable does, so yes it would basically be impossible

Shweet. The three mounts are all the hold in the tranny/motor on the new civis and tegs? I suck at knowing things. sounds good.

great review…

yes, pics? i was also thinking about doing this…

i need to do some cutting on the front mount bracket, then i will get some pics

if anyones interested ill be selling the soon to be had innovative crossmember =) for DA"s !!!11

pics/info/price?

:werd:

I know this post is old but if you could share some light on what parts you used for the cable to hydro tranny swap…

What year of a starter must one use?
Will 90-91 DA axles fit into the hydro tranny or must I use 94+ axles with half shaft?
Would I need to fab some hydro fluid lines?

I’m planning on converting as my tranny no longer has 5th gear and I think its time to upgrade rather than finding a grind-free cable transmission and would like to see a ballpark figure price range.
thanks in advance

any b-series will bolt up

if you use the 90-91 intermediate you can keep your stock axles

the system isn’t actually hydraulic, but uses the original cable to move an actuator that operates the clutch release fork. basically the whole system works as the slave cylinder in a normal hydro setup.
