installed crower 402 cams and now need a little info on valve lash.

as some might have read in another thread, i installed a set of Crower 402 cams in my car today, LS motor (not the 402’s for VTEC motors, just an LS)

anyway, my question is, i am aware of the specs etc. for the valve lash for stock spec cams. but what should i set the valves at for the intake AND exhaust valves for these?

what should i do as far as more or less valve lash, to put it in lamen terms, how much more or less do i need to adjust the valves for my new cams?

here are the specs of the stock cams as far as lift and duration (all this info is from Crower’s site)

STOCK:
ADVERTISED DURATION: 234/236
DURATION @ .050": 194/196
GROSS LIFT w/ 1.75 : 395/380

CROWER 402’s (FOR B18A/B)
ADVERTISED DURATION: 259 / 265
DURATION @ .050": 203 / 208
GROSS LIFT w/ 1.75 : 417 / 399

those are the specs i have, so if someone could help me out as far as how i need to adjust my valves to accomodate my new cams, that would be greatly appreciated. i need to know by tomorrow morning, that is when i will be doing this. thanks in advance for the help.

get valvelash info from crower

i found all the info i needed last night. crower recommended stock specs for these cams.

but on a more interesting note, i got them in. i currently have everything timed at TDC but will have the car tuned soon. even at TDC, it feels like an entirely different car. i’ve read on here that below 3000rpms, it feels like a slight power loss. i’ll have to disagree, i don’t really feel any loss, feels about the same as stock. however when i hit 4000, the car comes alive, it pulls alot harder. crower claims 8-12hp from these cams, and i won’t argue with it at all. from driving the car internally stock for 3.5 years, and then going to this, its a pretty dramatic improvement if you ask me. the idle is just a touch rougher than stock, barely noticeable. you can hear it just ever so slightly.

i put a g3 GS-R in his rightful place earlier today, couldn’t do that before. i used to be able to run right along side his car, until he got into 4th, then he’d pull me. today, same cars, same drivers, DIFFERENT end result.
only thing different on his car is that he put a stock exhaust back on his car, except his aftermarket cat (straight pipe)

now i REALLY can’t wait to get this thing tuned properly.
this isn’t a cam for HUGE power gains, but its something good for a little extra pep, and while still being able to keep reliability. who knows, maybe in a few months, i’ll go for the 403’s (actually, by that time it will be 403-T’s :naughty: )
and have some REAL fun.
