Sorry this is so long, please read it and tell me what you think if you’ve installed koni yellows. TIA.
Spent about four hours installing koni yellows today. I took my time with the rears and then had to finish the front sort of quickly because the garage was closing. Everything went on fine but once I got the car off the lift I noticed the front end was sticking up. I thought it was odd because I made sure I set the front on the lowest setting. Now the front end sticks up about 3/4" more than it did before.
I thought for a moment that maybe I had the wrong shocks in the front, but then I remembered that I had to use a spring compressor to put the front back together where as there wasn’t any tension on the spring when I took it apart. That lead me to believe the shock was shorter than the original, not longer(which is what might make the car higher).
I think I might be able to get the car a little lower in the front though. When I used the spring compressor to put the front together I didn’t torque the bolt on top down like I did on the rear. And when I got everything put together and the car back on the ground, I noticed those nuts were loose because the weight of the car had compressed the springs. So I tightened them down real quick(garage was closing) and didn’t mess with them again.
Does it sound like that will fix my nose-in-the-air problem?? Will that really make up for 3/4"?? Thanks again!
maybe you put the spring perch/seat on upside down? it shouldn’t be cupping the bottom of the spring, if you kinda know what i mean.

??? That’s what I did. The instructions weren’t very clear. Now I’m going to have to try to change it around. Thanks cspeed.
yeah man thats where you went wrong… the spring will NOT need compressed at all, actually it wont even reach the perch until you lower it back to the ground…

Thanks guys. I was able to flip the perch over and everything is fine. I’m glad I figured out what I did wrong before I took the 150 mile trip back to school. I sure love g2ic! :-*

You’ll have to take me for a ride in the Koni equipped G2 sometime!
Sure J. But to get the full effect you would have had to ride in my car before and after. I was on stock shocks for over a year after lowering my car with h&r sports. They were about gone. Now I’m

I could go with a local crew. They even said I could bunk up in one of their hotel rooms. Maybe, we’ll see. I’ve never gone before maybe that’s why I’m not all excited about it. I’m just not keen on the idea of there being thousands of imports buzzing around the same town. I doubt Doug would go though.

You could always crash at my place Eric. I’d be more than happy to extend my house to you (and Doug if he’d want) for Saturday night. My place isn’t but 20 minutes or so from Commerce, so it wouldn’t be too far out of your way. The offer is there my friend. Let me know.

You may not have to wait that long, I am ordering my springs tomorrow. If you can free up some time when they come in, we can do the install and then find a place to go driving.
Thanks Jordan, that’s a nice invitation. I already told them that I would stay with them but I could crash at your place at least one of the nights. They’ve got three hotel rooms and I was told there will be about 8 or 9 guys in each room :uhoh:
Stephen, I wouldn’t mind helping you install your springs, which ones did you get? Did you get shocks too? Just let me know when and where and I’ll try to make it.
Eric, I’ve had yellows sitting in my dorm room for about 3 weeks now. I was just waiting on a tuition/paycheck problem to be resolved before I could get the springs to go with them. I am getting Eibach springs with GC coilover sleeves.
If you want to help, that would be nice since you just did almost the same install. Hopefully it will be in the next few weeks. I’ll let you know.
Cool beans, you may want to check with my brother because he had some prokits that he swapped out for neuspeed sports not long ago. I’m not sure if he still has them but I’m sure he’d hook you up if he does, that is if you want prokits. Did you get a camber kit? I’ve got the ingall’s, I had a shop install it and adjust it and I’ve never monkeyed with it but we can use my car for reference if we need to.
I just finished ordering the springs today. I am still debating on the camber kit(very limited funds). I am thinking about just keeping my ride hieght close enough to stock that I don’t need one. It would be nice to have adjustable camber though. Where did you get yours and how much was it if you don’t mind me asking?
I got my ingall’s kit from b17a.com over a year ago, yeah so you’ll have to find somewhere else to order from I guess cuase no one knows what happened to that place. It was something like $150 but I can’t remember, I just got the front kit and did the washer trick in the rear. Don’t forget you’re going to need an alignment too. Do you want to do this before NOPI?

Whether I get it installed before NOPI depends on when the springs come in, whether I decide to get a camber kit, and when you guys are free(my only free days are Sunday). IM me sometime.
