i have some focuz headers and was wondering where do i put the o2 sensor… because on the stock manifold i see where it belongs but with after market headers where do they go… also how would these headers sound on my car…?? help
There should be a hole in the headers where the o2 sensor goes. If not, you’re going to have a bung-hole (seriously) welded into the header collector. It literally looks like a nut that’s welded into a hole, so you can screw the sensor into it.
Most aftermarket headers have the O2 bung welded at the rear of the down pipe just in front of the cat converter. If your header does not have a bung welded to it any muffler shop can weld one on for under $30.00. Just make sure that you have it welded in a spot that will not hit anything when the O2 sensor is installed.
Adding a header to your car shouldn’t make much of a sound change in your exhaust. Adding an aftermarket exhaust or a test pipe will make a big difference in the exhaust sound.
Note “headers” is not the right word for a inline 4 cylinder engine . The correct word is header (singular).
Headers is the term used for V8’s and V6’s when there are 2 headers to install , 1 for each side of the motor.
Sorry about that, it’s something that bothers me.
don’t forget new studs
Just in case you haven’t thought about it, I recommend replacing the studs when you install your header. Those high mileage studs tend to break when you retorque them.
My studs didn’t bust, but I did go and buy all new ones just in case. Now I am gonna return them to the dealer since I didn’t need them.
