W’sup G2IC, I’ll be buying some HIDs of a friend. I know how to install HIDs but what I want to know is where you guys put your BALLAST. I’ve looked online but people just say its a easy install. That’s not what I’m looking for, I want to know where you guys put your BALLAST. I want my BALLAST hidden so that no one can see it and also to protect it from any liquid getting into it. If there are any write ups, please let me know. I want a clean look. Thanks…
I put the left side on the rad support, the right side i put on the finder. Ill take pics to show you. BRB
Here you go.
Right side
Left side.
And just for giggles
hows that glare?
Bright as hell. I love them.
please, for the sake of other drivers, please either retrofit projectors or build shrouds to keep the bright ass light out of my face when youre coming towards me.

But yeah, that is one thing ill be doing so i don’t blind people.
just ajust your headlights down a lil bit if its getting in everyones eyes
Trust me when i say,it don’t work. I have 10k and there so bright that even the dead screams at me. I have cars sitting at a light 2 blocks down flashing at me,so yeah…lol
yeah man, its simple and cheap to do, something like this although this is with projectors HID Cutoff DIY
e: i wouldnt use aluminum cans, but people say it works
Thanks for the link Weasel. I’m diffidently going to do this.
Thanks for your pics. I was thinking the same to of mounting it on the fender bolt. I was mostly looking for a hidden spot where no body can see it. So that when i pop my hood, it looks as if i didn’t have HIDs.
i think i speak for the drivers in your area when i say: no, thank you!
Haha yeah no shit.
10k? damn can you say over kill?.. 6- 8 is more than enough. i have 6k… look great light up perfectly… i aimed them a little extra down and i never blind anyone… even let my bro drive my car while i drove his in front of mine and the lights didnt blind me one bit when i would look at my rear view mirror,
I got them brand new for 25 bucks from some old man. Wasn’t going to pas them up.
And whats wrong with using an aluminum can, held up for over 2 years and counting!
That’s even a better idea. How did you do it? Did you glue them on? And hows the output/glare? And can’t the ballast get wet right there?
good ballasts can get splashed with water, just dont submerge them. if youre worried about it grab some silicone sealer and bust open the ballast and seal up the seams if they arent already. (dont seal the vents, if there are any).
i looked for your thread blkack1, this was more of the idea i was lookin for. does your low/hi still work or are your HIDs only low-beams?
Thanks for posting yours. I am going to have to take your idea now.
JB weld is what is holding them together and to the light bulb. the output is awsome and the glare is tolerable IMO. as weasle stated. they can get a little wet as long as there not submerged into water. beside. I run full spalsh guards in the wheel wells so them getting wet hasnt realy conserned me!
here you can see how the lower portion of the light is blocked off.
