Installing new clutch.

I just bought an exedy clutch and was wondering how hard it is to put them on. My friend said he replaced his DC with the same brand clutch and said all you need is strength. I dont fully trust him with the installation and was wondering if anyone had any feed back. I also bought motor mount inserts for the car and was wondering if i should replace my worn mounts or should i just put in the inserts?

replacing a clutch is not realy hard if you have basic mechanical knowledge. and a helms manual. a second pair of hand comes in realy handy too. if you have the MM inserts, that would be the time to do it since both of those mounts have to come off.

Do some searchs, i am pretty sure there are plenty of write ups on removing and installing a transmission and clutch.

Dont forget to get that flywheel resurfaced.

its not that hard, its just kind of time consuming,… esspecially if its your first time…
i did mine in about 6hours first time, thats with a car lift

Im kind of scared now. i just saw a thread about a guy not being able to get into gear after installing his exedy clutch. He also said that he tightened his clutch cable and that made it even worse. any ideas of what might have happened?

if your scared go to church. it can be a little intimidating but it realy isn’t that hard. just read up, reveiw, know your shit. and if something does happen, take it one step at a time.

there is nothing like the felling of self accomplishment. why pay someone $500 to do something you can do your self and learn something new.

hey!!

I’m doing a clutch too…just wondering if u dont have a car lift…How high do you have to jack up the car to remove the tranny???I’m doing my in my driveway…help please:pupeyes:And i got jack stands it will help???

I did mine on jack stands in my garage.

just lift the car from the front cross member then stick the jack stands behind the front tire from the stock jacking point.

that should give you plenty of room to get the tranny down and out

SLAMMED_DB you have email

kool thankz man

And one more question…
should i take the whole right side hardware out or what should i live and what should i take out…so it would be easy to take out the tranny???:whip:

take out whatever is in your way of accessing the transmission bolts. It can all be put back on later. Im pretty sure things that came out when I did mine were intake, battery, starter, and a few other things.

thank

thanks for the advice
but why the intake???dont have to right???:werd:

because the intake is right ontop of the transmission?

Dont forget the pass side radius arm to. to make everything easier i recomend pulling the dist, starter, batt, batt tray, intake and the radiator and fan.

i pulled the bumper and the pass headlight, and the steering knuckle to give my self more room to get in and work, but i dont think thats neccesary(SP)

yeah

did my new clucth today:gunleft:
but took me the whole day…still not done just got toput the radius and cvback on and done…
and its my first time…i did it all by myself…pretty tuff do it yourself with no lift just two jack stand…lol but learning tho… :loser:

good job rice patty keep us informed

sounda like the guy with stuck gear eaither had a blown tranny and thought it was the clutch, or he didnt install the throwout bearing bolt.

slammed

:tmi: dont be scared man…
the only thing could be wrong with the clutch after installing a new one
is the guy couldn’t change his gear is beacause maybe he didnt change the release bearing…that happend when ur release bearing its gone…:read: :hyper:

HAHA with all that work. why would you not change the throw out bearing.
