I have a 91 ls with full 92/93 gsr interior. I have the door lock actuators and the door lock switches. I am missing the wiring component that links them together. I have access to a 93 gsr in a junk yard right now. Do i need to pull the wiring from the gsr and install it into my 91? Does anyone know how hard it is to pull out the door wiring without cutting any wire? Is there a point where it disconnects somewhere in the body?
Pulling the door harnesses is not hard, no cutting is needed.
The dash harness is a lot harder, it is easier to just make your own.
I would just make up the complete door lock harness, run a pair of leads from each actuator into the car along with a pair of leads from the switch into the car, add a pair of SPDT relays, wired like this… http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#arp “Actuators / Reverse Polarity” the alarm lock and lock leads are the same as the door switch. 94
I would get the door harnesses and the pins from the body harness side so you can add them to yours. That way all the wires are in the boot and the door connector is still is functional.
Then you make you own wiring up to a couple relays or the factory lock relay
Has anyone made their own wiring for this before?
I have made a couple for Honda/Acura but not one for a G2, although it is not that hard, take Luciferis suggestion and get the chassis side of door harness plugs w/ 6" or so of harness, that way you can depin the leads you need and repin them in your chassis side harness plugs and your “custom” harness can be connected to them instead of trying to run leads into the doors. 94
