What would it look like if you sanded it without doing the LED?
Horrible.
What color are the stock bulbs?
white with blue rubber on it
Unified asked this question already but not answered…What potentiometer did you use and how is it wired up?
He said a 500 ohm potentiometer and they’re wired up using leg 1 as the ground, leg 2 as your power in, and leg 3 as your power out.
looks really good !!
My bad, apparently you just put the pot inline with the LED strip. Leg 2 as power in and leg 3 as power out. You don’t need to worry about the first ground leg
I did the led bulb swap a long time ago and never liked the outcome. This though… I will be doing this on my project car. Great write up!
I’m going to try this soon but am a little confused on how to hook up the power. How could I do it without a POT?
Just pull the connectors out of one of the big plugs and solder the wires to each one making sure there can not be any contact between the two. It ended up working out so I could just push the connector and new wire in together without much fuss. Then just put the plug in the socket where it came from and ta-da. If at first it doesn’t work try turning the plug 180 degrees to get the polarity correct.
Ok sweet. That’s what I figured but I didn’t want to just go for it and mess up the cluster. That’s just the answer I was looking for. Thanks a bunch. Now I just need to wait for my LED strip to come in the mail.
