It’s easy to say that you would put forth the hours, but when the time comes, it much harder than you think. I’ve been filling out paperwork for hours to try to get some help, but the legal system isn’t made for this cross-state problem…
what are you talking about? you only have to fill out the one claim form. i was waiting on you since you said you were gonna put it together. if that was the case, then you shouldn’t have offered to do it in the first place. i have the form filled out and will be mailing it as soon as i can talk to their court clerk to see what the fee is. I’ll be making the drive out there for the court date. i am sure the teg will be up for it! i’m thinking this will all happen mid january. let me know if anyone wants to come with! yea well not all of us are lets say in our mid 30’s and have been through situations like this in the past and have been to small claims court. I’ve never been and still need to find out everything im gonna need to take him to court and not just that i gotta figure out what this is gonna cost me. Not everyone has a ton of money to front the court system until we win the case. I’ve filed at least 3 online forms, talked to 2 different lieutenants and have emailed countless people. Telling this kid to enjoy our money is like giving the kid a pat on the back and sayin good job. Im not calling out on anyone that does have more knowledge than me on the subject but honestly for myself im doing what i can right now. Yes it has been a while since this fucker stole our money but since then i’ve had to move into a new apartment, fix a friends car and trying to get my own teg on the road. The weather we just had didn’t help any and haven’t been able to work outside in about a week. This matter will be taken care of when each of us are ready and able to.
Drive across the country? This guy is in OK, thats in the middle. I took a trip to MO with a friend a few years back to visit his family. I drove the first 12 hours, my friend drove 2 while I tried to get some sleep (which didn’t work). He didn’t have a license at hthe time so I would rather do the driving. Then I drove the rest of the trip, 12 hours. It took us 36 hours to get there from NorCal, the only stop was for food/gas, and a 1 hour stop at a rest area to try to sleep. On the way back I drove non stop (besides gas/food). Made it home in 30 hours.
Now from SoCal, i’d imagine you guys can get to OK in about 18 hours or so. You can be there and back over the weekend. Thats a long drive, but i’d do it. Just to let this fuck know i’m serious. And yes I have a life, I work M-F 8-5, volunteer at the fire station on some weekends, doing remodel work on my parents house on the weekends, and had 2 classes last semester (and 2 this coming up semester, along with evening fire academy). I know I can squeeze some time in there to take 2-3 days off to go visit this guy.
Like Junkman said though, should have paid with paypal. Anyone asks for western union that just automatically throws up a red flag for me.

If memory serves me correctly doesn’t western union even state somewhere in its terms of use, user agreement or some forms pertaining to the transaction, to either 1) beware of scams where people ask for western union as forms of payment , 2) beware of people demanding money be sent quickly 3) make sure you know the person you are sending the money and don’t send money out of the country because you may have no recourse if they scam you.
my first transaction with this guy a week prior to this scam was quick and easy. should be able to file by the end of next week.
I admit, the redflag did go up, but I ignored it. I saw it as a good deal and that I had to jump on it before anyone else did. For that reason, I took the risk. I don’t have the money to drive 20+ hours. I have a little brother to take care of, school, and work. I really don’t care about the money. I’d be satisfied knowing that this punk gets it. It’s seriously easier said than done to settle all this. JDM, I’m in NorCal. I’m on winter break right now, but I have to take care of my little brother and I work weekends. I wouldn’t have a car to take on the road trip (S2000 is my daily driver, very uncomfortable and the DB2 is being used by my brother for work). If someone wants to help me out, I can provide funds as well. At this point, it’s no longer about the money.
Believe me if this guy ripped me off, it wouldn’t be about the money either. A few hundred or so, well it’s nothing compared to what i’ve spent on women (no not talking about prostitues or strippers, ok well maybe strippers lol). I’d be making a road trip out there because of morals/ethics or whatever you want to call it. Of course while i’m there i’d get money/parts or something of value. Now if it was clear across the US, well fuck it then i wouldn’t drive out there. But I am pretty damn sure i’d be able to find someone in his state to help me out.

You guys really need to coordinate this a little better. If any of you file complaints, you should post up what agency it was filed with, the date filed, agency’s contact info, and your contact info. maybe add that to the list of how much money each person got jacked for.
That way this guy can give that agency a list of other people who filed compaints, and have all the contact info to them and the agency.
Right now everything is a big clusterfuck. And it’s probably too late to do anything about getting your money back now. Is there some kind of time frame you should file something when someone rips you off? I mean 6 months later, and the cops aren’t going to give a shit.
