Integrated Control Module

Starting to think mine is going bad. The interior light has never come on with either door open, the headlight reminder has never made noise, intermittent wipers stopped working and hazard lights aren’t working now either. Anyone ever had all of these problems?

is your door chime on once you open the door without the key in the ignition? also, your oil pressure light will flicker on and off or just be very faint.

I’ve never heard a chime except for when the seat belt has an issue or is unhooked. I’ll have to check the oil light when I get home.

You have two (2) problems, the ICU, [integrated control unit] is bad, no intermittent wipers, no rear window defog and no chimes is due to a bad ICU.

The dome light is another issue, although the drivers door pin does go through the ICU, the pass, door pin is direct to the dome light.

If the dome light works off the switch on the light, check the pin switch, it is common for them to go bad, [rust]. 94

Just ordered the ICU and will have to check those door sensors. Will update this thread when the problems are fixed. Fingers crossed the chime works again…

It arrived today…

Who has the ICU replacement instructions? I can recover them for the life of me.

damn how much?

My quick walk through.

  1. Remove kick panel trim
  2. Remove the top and bottom bolts
  3. Pop the old ICU off the fuse box
  4. Remove the ICU harness from the ICU
  5. Plug new ICU in and reinstall everything.

Trying to remove the harness from the ICU while it’s still connected to the fuse box will just cause rage. My wipers work fine now, and I had another problem with the hazards. I did ask about this a while ago but never got around to taking a pic, so it’s my fault. But for future reference, the 10A fuse connected to the positive battery terminal on the 90-91s is for the hazards.

Jason it was $187, but I’m hoping it will last another 20 years so can suck it up. Now I just have to make my wipers go the whole way down… it never ends… ha

Still no chime, will be breaking out the multimeter on those wires soon.

Yes !! I found it thank you for the quik walk through here is the link for pictures of the ICU Replacement http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?206241-ICU-removal-guide-rear-defroster-some-lighting-and-windshield-wiper-issues

Ok so I got it done replaced ICU with a used one from [Greazemunkey73] seat belts work and my rear defroster didn’t turn on, on its own and the chime mores code stopped. I’m not ballsy to check the functions of the other things that the ICU controls. Also I opened the old one and the circuit board looks pristine I was expecting it to have burn parts like the pictures posted if anyone wants it I’ll send pics if you think you can fix it and help another G2 person.

Look closer. you have a faulty capacitor. If you know how to solder, replace it.
