Interior Electrical Problems

Firstly I’d like to say hello as this is my first time here. This is a great resource for integras. Secondly I’ll get to my problem:

I just got my car about two days ago from a member over at TI. The dome light isn’t working and the clock resets everytime the car is turned off. It also won’t work when the car is off, normally u can push the button and it shows. Anyway I tried installing the cd-deck and it won’t turn on, whenever i press the power button on the deck, the clock flashes, and the trunk open light flashes. I also noticed that occasionally when i’m stopped at a light, the clock flashes and the trunk open light flickers a little. Also when i turn the dome light to “ON” the clock flashes and same thing as the radio. The dome i tried a new bulb, but because of all this i’m led to believe it is a wiring problem. Also he dome light and cd-deck never turn on they just cause that weird problem. It’s a 1990 Integra GS, i hope the problems not too serious.

I think it may be two exposed wires causing one to short, but i’m not sure.

I have the same problem, execpt I unplugged my clock. My dome light and cigarrette (sp?) lighter doesnt work either. I hard wired my head unit in so it would have constant power. I wish I could find that  short. It drives me crazy that I dont have any interior lights. If I put a fuse in, it will blow on contact.

same thing as me, the lighter doesn’t work either. Maybe i’ll call up acura or a my neighbor. If i can find the short or w/e i’ll let u know. I hope it doesn’t end up being some 200$ re-wiring bs

Lemme know! Thanks bro!

did you find a fix???

Bern, do you find a solution yet?

After gettting my car stolen…I have the exact same problem. The only time the clock works is when I have all the doors close.

I’m thinking it’s got something to do with the alarm install. I have been trying to trace the wires to look for a break/short, but with no luck. If you ever find a solution, please post. I will do the same.

Thanks,
Erwin

well I never really found a solution. I had some of the wiring fixed as it alot of it was hardwired, ie:cooling fan, laff. I went out and got the wiring schematics for the whole car and I’m gonna redo all the wiring with my uncle sometime starting next weekend. There are ALOT of electrical problems in my car right now, but i’ll get it alll fixed sooner or later.

keep us posted

keep us posted…

And try to do some kind of write up so other people [like us] can follow some of the procedures

erm

check your underdash fuse box - there’s a specific fuse (I don’t remember which right now) that will cause those exact problems if it blows.

it’s not the fuse i checked all that already.

i have the same problem too…any one?

First off, if your dome light isn’t working properly, your interior lights. Your aftermarket deck will also most likely not work.

I don’t really understand the question you are trying to ask.

It seems like u have a unreliable electric, your trunk sensor, your dome lite, your clock.

Does your dome light work or not? You say when u turn ur dome light on it turns on ur trunk sensor light, and ur clock?

If this is true, then sometime in ur wiring is obviously messed up.

Do you have any kind of aftermarket wiring installed in your car?
Is your wiring completly stock or what,?

To solve most problems, we must think, think think and use our minds, its almost almost always! a simple little fix, more info needed.

If your clock resets everytime your car starts up there is definintely something wrong with the wiring in ur car,

Well we know if a clock is to keep its memory it needs what?

Well, it needs a constant batt source, if I disconnect my battery, my clock will resset.

In conclusion your clock is not receiving a constant batt source, I do not know how this relates to when the car is turned on, how it then lights up. But it needs a constant batt source to keep its memory definintely, just like our cd players, the yellow wire( for the battery)(memory) is meant to keep the memory in the cd player for memorizing stations ec, last position CLOCK and etc…

If I was you, I would try and find the wires connected to your clock, then test to see if it is being supllied with a constant current, using a test light or volt meter. If you find out that your wire isn’t constant, go ahead and follow that wire as far as you can sto see if u see any problems.

end of that.

It seems like ur trunk sensor, dome light and clock are all related, Iam almopst pretty sure that one simple fix, will fix all three of thses indivudual problems that somehow relate to eachother.

All you need to do is figure out how theses relate to eachother, break down everything u know that can and can’t be wrong, you’ll find the problem.

DO NOT GOTO SHOPS, I HAVE ALMOST NEVER HAD ANY GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS WORKING ON MY CARS, THEY SIMPLY DON"T KNOW WHAT THERE DOING AND CHARGE TO MUCH FOR NOTHING.

I hope that helps you out a little, AIM : Chinkeyez 09

these wierd little problems sound like a blown fuse to me, in our cars when a fuse goes it cause all types of bizzare problems…for example I had one go, when I put on my right turn signal my headlights interiors and dashlights would all blink. i’ve had lots of other “wierd” electriclal problems but it’s always been a fuse.

FYI, it’s NEVER the fuse that it’s supposed to be according to the diagram. Take 3 minutes and pull every single fuse from your under-dash fuse box, after that check all the ones in your engine-bay fuse box, i bet you find a blown fuse.

i also have the same problem-- only the interior lights, clock, rear defroster, cigarrette lighter, and aftermarket cdplayer never go on (but now cdplayer’s hardwired in) and my trunk light & doors light stay on all the time. i think it has to do with a shortage because the fuses keep blowing when they’re replaced. i checked every fuse with the test light. now the only question is… where is it shorting? (these are all stock wires too). if anyone gets this fixed, please tell!

I got it.

i HAD! the same problem with my 93 Teg the dome light, clock, defroster indicator light, hatch and other lights blinking etc. one day i got pissed and kicked the crap out of my fuse panel and everything started to work again for a short while with some further investigating i noticed that some of my fuses seemed loose or wiggly solution i slightly bent one of the fuse prongs forward and the other backwards the fuse was much more snug and the lights have been working properly ever since. i hope this works for you guys.

BUMP for my same kind of problem. clock always resets. i get a llight on my power button of my stereo, when i hit the dome lights, my clock flashes. when i hit the cabin dome lights my DOOR switch flashes and no cigarette lighter and i have no corner lights.

edit: mine was the cooling fan fuse 15A. my fan is not even wired to that but the current was going into the relay above the fuse panel and clickin replaced the fuse and everything looks good so far but i have not checked my corner lights

replace your dash harness, had same prob in old my old da.
