Interior lights plugged into spare pin flickering

I have my custom lit cluster and my pillar gauges plugged into the spare fuse pin (12V when headlights on). This power source has never been perfect for me but recently it has gotten really bad. Basically I’ll be driving, then randomly, my lights connected through the spare pin will go out. They don’t go completely out however, I’d estimate 5% brightness. They will then randomly come on again as usual. This may happen 10 times or so on a 15 minute drive. All other interior lights and headlights work fine.

Any thoughts on this problem? I was thinking bad ground, but wouldn’t that cause more than just the spare pin to act up? I’m kinda stumped

anyone?

…hmm

Wire a fuse inline between your gauges and the fusebox. I’m pretty sure you’re overloading it. 30V+ should do it…

that would be my first guess. since oyu didnt mention wiring in a fuse between the gauges and the fuse panel.

correct me if I am wrong.

It is more likely a wiring problem, possibly a poor ground.

Move the source from park light free pin to the 2nd ign. free pin, lights will come on when ign is turned on.

If you still have the problem, then the source, [park light free pin] is not the problem and you will have to check your wiring, starting with the ground.

I will assume, because it is effecting all the lights on the free pin, that all the lights are grounded to the same point.

If when you move the source from the park light free pin it solves the problem, find the fuse for the park light free pin and replace it, even if it looks good. 94
