Sup Guys…
the carpeting on my door panels(cloth) is coming off…so I was wondering what’s the best way to fix this problem? I’ve tried using several types of adhesives…which all did not work.
I’ve tried super glue, rubbercement, spray mount and hot glue. Do you guys have any suggestions? experience with this problem?
i had the same problem… i was thinking of using that 3m spray glue adhesive thing… but then i just ended up pulling it all off… and i wanna get like… some velvet and cover it with that…
the pool table stuff works the best… in my opinion… i did it to my lowrider bike seat… it was ez… yea… but i get the stuff from my friend… he has a shitload of it… he works with pool tables/arcade games
tegboi–you mind posting pics of how it looks? I’m probably not gonna do the pool table cloth, probably stick with the factory trim, but I’m curious to see how it looks. or is it cool if I just check it out myself sometime? I live in SF. This cloth trimming is a little frustrating. The rear door in my sedan was so bad that I just ended up getting a whole used panel from someone else, and now my front passenger panel is doing the same thing…and is embarassing b/c my passengers can see it. Let me know, thanks.
i can go take quick pics… then if u have aim… i can just send em to u quick…
i didnt do the pool table cloth thing yet… but planning on doing it soon…
do u want to see pics of it without the cloth?
it’s cool…I’m trying to keep it with factory trim b/c it matches the seats. could you send me the pics when you do put on the new cloth…thanks. My e-mail add...sleeper9810@aol.com…and yeah…I have AIM.
doh…
i thought u would want to see it naked… so i went to take pics…
eh… well… i got pics of what it looked like before and after now at least…
i’ll email pics to ya when i do it…
my aim name is “meondrugz” so i added u to my list… feel free to chat when ya want…
I took the passenger door fabric completely off and then cut a circle out of the material and used it as a patch on the driver’s seat left bolster! It looks fantastic. But now I have an all-vinyl passenger door. Oh well no big deal.
Take it off and remove the glue. The vinyl under there is REALLY comfortable on your elbows/forearm compared to the old cloth IMO. I have a Graphite black/gray interior and the vinyl color is black under there.
that’s what i have too… that’s why i did it… i just peeled back what was already off… then it was comfy… how did u take the glue off? i havent done that yet. but i gotta have some color there… so ima do the velvet…
humm… i dont know what color…
i wonder if they make white velvet… it wouldnt last too long… but it’ll be an experience…
How do you get the glue residue off? I’ve tried everything I can think of; it’s not sticky anymore but it’s not real pretty.
90integraGS–Have you tried lighter fluid? If that doesn’t work then go to an art store and look for this thinning solution called “Bestine.” It’s in a tin with a gray, black and grey label.
I had to change the cloth on my doors too, but I didn’t just put cloth back on I bought some red vinal the same color as my car. I used some contact adhesive. the only hard part was the back corner that is the armrest I had to fold and tuck it. It turned out good and made the car that much better. I plan on covering my seats too just need to know what works and looks good on the teg seats.
i pulled my driver seat out tonite… and i took it apart… except for the cloth… then im going to redo it with some black cloth… with a little design… it’ll be kool… i’ll post pics…
I was afraid to use any chemicals on the vinyl because I thought it would fade the black. I just used a plastic scrub brush, some soap, and a whole helluva lot of elbow grease.
I’ll try to post some pics tonight. I also took off the cloth at the bottom of the door. The glue there is a lot more stubborn though.
if you want the fabric to stay on, fabric glue works for like 2 years. nothing lasts forever!! you can get that stuff at an arts and crafts store like michaels.
but im considering going naked now. woooooooooooo
