i’m sure a lot of people are scared to run an internal antenna because of their reputation for getting horrible reception. Well i absolutely was tired of the broken antenna mast so i went ahead and bought one from www.installer.com. Well i have to say that i am satisfied. It is 100% invisible from outside the car. and barely noticeable inside the car. it was even pretty easy to install. You have to supply 12v with the supplied wire. I just took it off my radio 12v i believe yel/red wire.
Anyway, i live in between DC and Baltimore. And when im at my house i can hear both stations. but when im in Baltimore, i barely get DC stations, but all Baltimore stations come in CRYSTAL CLEAR.
If you want to do this and have any questions you want to ask, post them here and i should be able to answer them for you.
Hmm I think I will buy one of these, My stock atenna is a busted ass POS the motor sounds like death when you plug it in, I couldn’t figure out why the last owned had it unplugged…found out real damn quick.
i may need to get one of these. i just “shaved” my antenna and i cant get any AM channels (not that i need to, but my dad needs them) and whenever i go under a bridge it takes an abnormal amount of time to get reception.
i recommend this product to anyone who has a shaved antenna.
After drivign with it for a week, i can say its pretty good. But if you have some dead zones of reception like in a valley where i work, its impossible to get any reception with any antenna.
I find that the “amplified” part of the antenna amps the reception that the antenna’s getting. Its not like its reaching out farther, but just boosting the signal that the antenna can get. So…if you have reception with a little static, you will get more pronounced static with an amped antenna.
because the oem works a lot better for AM bands. this one works great for FM, and its nice to be able to remove the stock ugly antenna, but i enjoy AM radio and miss it.
