I saw that Exedy oem clutches are $188.00 plus shipping at Clutch City online, are they as good as Honda? I was thinking about getting the race but I am getting a b16a in a little over a year and want to get a quality cheap clutch for my b18a right now before my stock clutch gets worse, becasue it is screwed right now:(
i asked about excedy clutches on a different board awhile back. adn this is the answer i was told from ppl who had those clutches.
“dont buy it, just buy an ACT, because ull end up buying it anyways.”
also they had said that there clutch went out/ gave them problems like after 6 months
I’ve heard the same thing with that brand…
Go act! If the ACT can put up with my driving for almost 2 years it’s all gravey haha
I personally would go w/ Clutchmasters, they are worth the money!!! Not to knock on anyone, but I have personally never spoke to someone that has not had problems w/ their tranny after they installed their ACT…
CLUTCHMASTER, CLUTCHMASTER, CLUTCHMASTER!!!
I have a good friend that has one of their organic street disks in his 94 gs-r. he’s been pounding on it for a while and it’s still running strong. I love driving his car…clutch grabs so good but pedal pressure is like stock. I plan on getting one when i rebuild my motor. Don’t get the OEM replacement though…go for the Organic street disk…you’ll be glad you did. ACT’s are good too, but I havn’t had any experience with them. Find people that have both and have had for them for a while and get some honest answers about them…not just peoples guesses or suggestions.
I got a Clutch masters Stage 3 and love it grip is incredable but feels like stock on the pedal mabey a littel stiffer I plan on replaceing it with the samn thing when i do it again.
Exedy are the same thing as Toda I think clutches. I know one of the main JDM builder companies use Exedy as their clutches and change the name to whatever company that is.
As for ACT I’ve heard bad about them too, but it all falls under ur driving style, if the clutch was properly broken in, blah blah.
And yes any aftermarket clutch will ALWAYS be better than stock…well most of the time, if your going with a performance type of clutch.
And thats the cheapest I’ve seen an Exedy clutch in a LONG time!I usually see them for 250.00+ I might just go buy one right now.
here’s a link from another g2ic post. http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17028

yes, exedy does make the Toda clutch/flywheel combo. I think you’ll always hear good and bad things about all brands when you ask around (i know when i was shopping for a clutch i got tons of positive and negative comments about every brand). It all has to do with whether the person got the right clutch for their setup, if they broke it in, how they drove it, and any other details specific to their situation. If you get act, clutchmasters, exedy, or centerforce you will be happy (given you get the right clutch for your needs, break it in properly, and don’t abuse the thing).
I believe Exedy makes Honda OEM clutches as well. So the Honda OEM is the Exedy OEM.
Has anybody used or heard of Dynopact clutches?
I’m going to be installing an Excedy Organic racing clutch kit on my J1 tranny in a couple of weeks or sooner, I’ll keep you guys posted.
maybe I will get the race…
it is only $70.00 more and still much cheaper than oem Acura. By the way A&H Motorsport quoted me a little over $300.00 for a genuine Honda clutch, and they are supposed to sell discount!!!
I’m not posting here to hate on any products, just posting some info based on experience. Exedy makes good products, the standard replacement clutches (Exedy/Daikin) are certainly better than original, and the pedal feel is good- not too soft, not too firm. I bought a complete Exedy kit for my 92 Prelude Si for like 120, from ‘squintbros’ on Ebay. Take your flywheel to a decent machinist for a nice microfinish, and as long as you’re a decent driver, it’ll be a trouble free setup.

I’ve had my Exedy Organic setup running for 8 months now and I love it
I havent had any problms with mine actually i noticed the difference in grip immediately.Go to http://coximport and look at the hotsheet,it will compare the exedy clutch to the oem honda clutch just dot buy it from them it is way too expensive.
i’m running an exedy clutch with a cerametallic composition disk (3 puck) on my 93 ls, about 6 months of trouble free for me.
nearly all performance clutch sets begins life as factory honda components. for the most part, aftermarket clutch sets are resurfaced units with higher-rate diaphragms " sourced form Alan Paradise " just a little info…
Clutchmaster Stage 3 in my 92 GS-R and I love it. I went from a exedy clutch (not sure which one), but I love the clutchmasters. It grabs like a mo-fo and CM’s quality is great. I have heard nothing but horror stories abotu ACT’s old design, but they have release a new designed pressure plate, so maybe problems are gone… who knows… but I’d say CLUTCHMASTERS
