It has happened twice to me now that is has gotten cold and snowy. I will start it in the morning and all is well, then, I will drive 30-40 miles to work and shut it off for about a half an hour and restart it and bad things happen…It will start easily but it sounds and feels like it is running on three cylinders. The fumes are a strong gas smell and the car shutters and idles poorly. When I drive off it is powerless and shakes like it is on three cylinders and about 5 minutes of struggling to keep it up to 65mph it will clear out and run like a Teg. Can anyone help me find the problem or tell me what to look for first. It is a '92 1.8L 5spd with only 85K miles.
Thanks,

damn a 92 with 85k? ok might wanna check the spark plugs, distirbutor. i don’t know what could be leakin gas fumes into the cab my friends car has the same problem cept its a caviler. my car has a problem of raddling at idle and the tact bonce from 800 down to 500 and i can’t find out why. you also might wanna have your motormounts checked. the most common one that goes out is of course the impossible ones to get to but its the one between the firewall and the engine
